Esoctrilihum – The Telluric Ashes Of The Ö Vrth Immemorial Gods

There is a reason why most of the solo bands are remarkably prolific, first they always come up with profuse ideas and they solely work on the basis of their songwriting process without depending on other musicians. There are many examples mainly in the black metal genre where solo bands like Burzum, Arckanum, Tartaros, The Ruins Of Beverast are the work of only one person. Esoctrilihum is yet another example of one such band, who has released four studio albums in the last two years! In February 2018 the multi-instrumentalist Lord Asthâgul released his second album entitled ‘Pandaemorthium (Forbidden Formulas to Awaken the Blind Sovereigns Of Nothingness)’.

In the same year in the month of October Esoctrilihum released the third album entitled ‘Inhuma’. Now within a short period of time Lord Asthâgul delivers his fourth album which came as a surprise to many fans. ‘The Telluric Ashes Of The Ö Vrth Immemorial Gods’ is the fourth outing by this bizarre mystical black metal band. Lord Asthâgul seems to be inspired by the work of American horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. Whose work of science fiction & Cthulhu Mythos has inspired many poets and musicians. On the latest studio record the band carries on with the same motif which previously appeared on the past albums. The musical context is concentrated on the heavy barrage of guitar riffs, short aesthetic solos, lead guitars and tremolo pickings.

The album is full of horrifying experiences and structured by unorthodox methods. Esoctrilihum is no ordinary band. The music itself reverberates across mystical themes and keyboard soundscapes, giving the music a vast and contemplative space to channel through a bizarre ambiance. However these elements work as thematic melodies and provide dark and hypnotic contents. The new album is another profound work crafted by Lord Asthâgul , only this time the production enhanced the quality of the instruments. ‘Kros Öv Vrth’ is the second track of this dark and mysterious album where Esoctrilihum unites both genres in one common ground. The latest album isn’t only focused on black metal; the twist of death metal adds another confusing hodgepodge to the entire sound. Musically Lord Asthâgul relies on the swirl of tremolos and the brutality of death metal. Listening to the music itself requires your full attention, for the many details and the hidden elements that mysteriously ebb and flow. The cover album is another puzzling work of art which contains many esoteric meanings. It has a deep aspect, and the quality of the music, like its the atmosphere, is meticulously executed.

‘Invisible Manifestation Of Delirium God’ and ‘Stone of Static Void‘ veer in such a psychedelic manner, that it requires your full attention. Grim whispers and spectral growls entwine to form a hellish and apocalyptic soundtrack that builds into a brutal death metal song. The decorative and dense elements like the use of synthesizer gives it that occult edge. The music is multifaceted with guitar riffs swirling like a mass of storm. The vocals vary from ghoulish growls to demonic rasps, and the music in general transports you to far, unearthly realms of fiendish deities where occultism and magic unlocks its bizarre meanings.

‘Thar-Voknargh’ features many dark passages and proves how black metal can be innovative without relying on symphonies. The elements on the album are sophisticated and compact, ‘The Telluric Ashes Of The Ö Vrth Immemorial Gods’ is a frightful album. Such music only comes from the evil minds of those who have looked beyond the veil. The album is quite long, spanning eleven tracks over seventy-five minutes. The second half of the album delves deep into the fathomless depths of abyss? Tracks like ‘Black Hole Entrance’ and ‘Black Hole Existence’ both drift towards the blackened death metal strain. The musical structures of the tracks are compacted into several layers. The brutal aspects resemble bands like Behemoth and Morbid Angel, and when it comes to production Lord Asthâgul proves that he has full control over the mixing arrangements. The strain of symphonies are meticulously inserted into the songs to add that mystical sensation.

Tuning into haunting atmosphere and ambience, generally the music is very raw and primitive and this what makes the contents of the album so attractive and powerful. Rhythm guitar and black metal riffs are frequently performed, drums are actively executing constant blast beats and cataclysmic vibrations. The album ends with ‘Torment of Death’ which is another fast song and heavily blasted by the drums and guitar riffs. ‘The Telluric Ashes Of The Ö Vrth Immemorial Gods’ is a twist of cosmic black metal delirium and brutality of death metal. Lord Asthâgul self-confidence has led him to uncover the unprecedented areas of extreme metal music.
