Interview Turmion Kätilöt – “Laser pussy, disco ball and a strong beat”

Turmion Kätilöt… a name that is very familiar to anyone who is Finnish or has a strong connection with Finnish music and culture. They’re an industrial metal phenomenon that can be counted as one of the most popular acts within the country. Recently they signed with metal giants Nuclear Blast to spread their filth to people and corners they didn’t get to before. And the first shot at that is their 9th full-length record ‘Global Warning’. In line of things happening for them, just before the lockdown properly hit Finland, we had the opportunity to meet up and talk with the creative mind behind the band and primary vocalist MC Raaka Pee and second vocalist Shag-U (also known from Fear of Domination).

We shortly talked about the COVID-19 crisis and how they are planning to deal with it, but then mostly had an interesting conversation about the concept of their new album ‘Global Warning’ and getting it released through Nuclear Blast for the first time. When asking them to describe their music with images as best as they could, they came to a very interesting conclusion…

They sort of delved into their overall themes and released singles with a warning for the music video that goes with ‘Naitu’, released with the album (for the +18 video go here: https://youtu.be/ltsVs2_HIBc). Lastly, we talked about their (hopefully) upcoming Europe tour with Nightwish, a hilarious story about meeting Mike Patton from Faith No More and of course their booze…
