So sit back, PICK YOUR POISON, and discover all you need to know about your favorite band’s alcoholic brands!

Motörhead‘s Lemmy was known for liking a (few) drink(s) every now and then. So it seems only logic for the band to also venture into releasing some alcoholic drinks with their name on it. Something that was maybe less expected to happen, is that they released a red wine… seems a little too sophisticated compared to the usual things Motörhead is known for. Even Lemmy himself was wary of the ruby red liquid:

“My advise is — approach it with caution. I mean, wine is deceptive, anything can happen.”

But we eagerly had a little taste of the red liquid to see if it has the same robust high quality matching their music.

Tasting

The wine we tasted was a Shiraz originating from South East Australia and with a 2011 vintage. When we poured it in our glass, we got a dark red ruby colour and it left a little bit of tears on the side of the glass after swirling it. There was little to no aroma to be detected or at least not strong enough for our untrained noses. Our first sip then brought us a soft, fruity and slightly sweet flavour that reminded us quite much of the Amon Amarth wine we tasted earlier. We found dark berries like black currant and blackberry with a touch of spice, just as advertised. The tannins are not overly present, which makes it not hard on the palate at all and thus a very smooth drink without drying out your mouth too much. Overall it’s thus far one of the best wines we tasted for Pick Your Poison!

Packaging

The packaging wasn’t anything too special to be honest. The wine comes in the standard dark (green) bottle you’d expect. Wine drinkers might get a bit wary when seeing the screw-off cap, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a “pour away”. For the rest you’ll see an etiquette with central the ever present “Snaggletooth” on a simple black background. Of course you can read “Motörhead” in silver letters and “Shiraz” on it, but that’s about it. A bit underwhelming to us, the box it comes in actually looks nicer than the content… But on the other hand that’s maybe not too surprising since it’s yet again a product from the Swedish Brand for Fans
