Twitching Tongues – Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred

/ / By :

Twitching Tongues was born in the LA hardcore scene in 2009, but they’ve created their own dark sound that doesn’t fit in only one genre. It’s a unique blend of metal and hardcore, think Type O Negative meets Agnostic Front meets Pantera.

With Gaining Purpose Through Passionate Hatred the band has released their fourth studio album. While listening to this record, I often get a feeling of melancholy and tristesse. This feeling has its origin in both Colin Young’s voice and his brother Taylor’s and Sean Martin’s (ex-Hatebreed) guitar riffs. The melancholic and depressed sound is to be found in songs as Kill For You, Forgive & Remember and Long Gone.

Besides this dark vibe, GPTPH also gives you some no-nonsense brutality. Heavy riffs and catchy drumrolls are giving you an instant need to bang your head and mosh around, even if you’re not supposed to do so in the environment you’re listening. Songs that make you want to tear down everything in your close proximity are Harakiri, T.F.R. and The Sound Of Pain.

If you want to dance to the new tunes of Twitching Tongues, make sure you catch them at Revelationfest in Aarschot on June 9th!
