‘Gospel Of Annihilation’ sets the tone for the rest of the EP with a disgusting death growl, filthy atmosphere and furious blastbeats. The recipe for any brutal deathcore sound. CJ McCreery is the former vocalist of Lorna Shore and can be seen as their little brother but if they continue like this, they will become bigger by the minute. This Immortal Disfigurement is a statement. They already know what their doing, they know the road to follow and they know what music they play. That becomes clear with ‘Hellhole’: this is deathcore how it should sound. Brutal, filthy and an energy to fight with your kitchen. ‘Throne of Flies’ starts off with a very deep riff that continues and gets fallback by Suki on drums. And of course we can’t get any further without a devastating breakdown.
‘Into A Dying Sun’ highligts an other part of the band and that’s their symphonic part that they use. The newly and improved deathcore has introduced more symphonic elements. It’s started with Shadow Of Intent and other bands used this into their sound. Think of Lorna Shore or Signs Of The Swarm (also a former band of CJ) and of course now also Immortal Disfigurement. But this mixed together with a breakdown! Holy hell that is really next level. With ‘Swap God(s) we reached the end and I was never so disappointed to reach the end of an album. And also the longest song of the EP more then 8 minutes of brutal deathcore.
This was a real trip filled with brutality, breakdowns and symphonic intermezzo’s. Immortal Disfigurement is here to stay that’s a real fact. And I’d love to hear more of these guys.
