The Big Ol’ Nasty Getdown returns with star studded, genre smashing single ‘Wrong Side of the Law’

RnB, Rock, Soul

Los Angeles based funk collective The Big Ol’ Nasty Getdown is back and breaking boundaries once again with their electrifying new single, “Wrong Side of the Law” out now alongside a powerhouse music video.

Listen to “Wrong Side of the Law” here.

In true Getdown fashion, the track is a genre bending, groove fueled collaboration that unites an unlikely but thrilling handpicked cast of pure talent.

Ellen Alaverdyan, the 13 year old bass savant (11 at the time of recording) whose prodigious talent has earned her millions followers brings a thunderous tone and youthful glow, along with celebrated Croatian rock vocalist Dino Jelusick (Whitesnake, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), Kenny Aronoff, the legendary drummer behind the beats for John Mellencamp, Smashing Pumpkins, guitarist Hovak Alaverdyan (Octovision) contributes blazing riffs while Armenian keyboardist Ara Torosyan delivers atmospheric brilliance with a modern edge.

“During the production, this song gave me the chance to stretch the Getdown in ways we hadn’t explored yet,” says Heintz. “We’ve never been about fitting into one genre—whether it’s funk, rock, hip-hop, jazz, country, metal—we just chase the vibe and create what feels right, shares founder and producer, John Heintz.

As the 18 year sonic odyssey continues, “Wrong Side of the Law” is the latest preview from the Getdown’s mind bending catalog of unreleased original songs featuring its revolving roster of musicians.

The project has grown into a global collective for almost two decades, featuring over 225 musicians from 180 major bands, including members of Fishbone, Parliament Funkadelic, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Korn, Suicidal Tendencies, Earth, Wind & Fire, and more. What began as a vision to capture the magic of jam sessions and spontaneous collaboration has evolved into an ever-expanding musical universe. With each release, the Getdown continues to break down barriers, bringing together legends, rising stars, and prodigies from across the globe, making it a DIY triumph in a major label world.

Founded by John Heintz, The Big Ol’ Nasty Getdown is a genre-defying musical project that brings together some of the world’s most renowned and innovative artists. Known for their sprawling collaborations and multi-genre sound, the Getdown has previously featured contributions from members of The Meters, Sly and the Family Stone, the Time, Mudvayne, the Neville Brothers, 311, Jane’s Addiction, Arrested Development, Primus, Living Colour and many more. Their upcoming album ‘Volume 3’ out this September promises to further expand the Getdown’s boundary-pushing legacy.
