From The Land is the brainchild of Anatoly Pakhalenko, frontman of the dark folk band Nytt Land. Conceived in 2025, the project serves as an alter ego for Pakhalenko’s creative exploration and experimentation within dark country and blues genres. The band’s aesthetic is described as a “black and white world tired of all this s**t that’s going on around and gradually sinking into an endless sleep.”
“Psalm 2” is based on the biblical text of the second psalm, with its content and lyrics aligning with the main guitar riff and melody. The track also features a Mongolian traditional flute, the “shoor”, as a nod to Pakhalenko‘s work with Nytt Land.
The song “Psalm 2” was composed by Anatoly Pakhalenko and Aleksandr Rosliakov, with lyrics taken from the Bible. It was recorded at Nytt Land Studio between January and May 2025, with Anatoly Pakhalenko serving as recording and mixing engineer, and producer.
From The Land draws inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, Edgar Allan Poe, and David Lynch.
