Metallic hardcore group Beyond The Styx condemn West’s silence on Gaza in new ‘Deadlock V’ video

Hardcore, Metallic Hardcore

French metallic hardcore force Beyond the Styx reveals the third and final single, “Deadlock V,” from their upcoming album DIVID, due out May 08 via Innerstrength Records. This politically charged track arrives alongside a music video.

Speaking on “Deadlock V,” BTSTYX vocalist Emile states:

“How could the Western world have remained impassive for so long in the face of the genocide unfolding in the Gaza Strip? How can the legacy of a martyred people allow its own leaders to become the shameless executioners of their own neighbors?

“These are the main questions that tormented my mind during the relentless months of deadly bombings that raged between October 2023 and February 2024 against the people of Gaza. During this period, the Israeli army reportedly dropped more than 25,000 tons of explosives (the equivalent of two nuclear bombs), according to a UN committee of experts.

“Echoing all this suffering was a heavy, mechanical, numbing riff which resonated with me like the echo of the bombings my own gaze fled from each day in the media. Too much blood and too many tears have been shed for my pen to remain unmoved by such suffering and senselessness. How can the innocence of our children ever be protected from this kind of abuse in the future?

“The feeling of fear wreaks havoc on life beyond compare. Understanding the mechanisms at work is essential in a world where emotion reigns supreme, filtered through the media, without losing sight of the fact that the only thing we should fear is fear itself. The fear of dying, or, ultimately, the fear of living?

“This song thus concludes the thematic triptych: amnesia / war / revenge, culminating in the revelation of DIVID.”

Pre-Order DIVID via Innerstrength Records (vinyl and digital) HERE, or directly via the band (CD, cassette, vinyl, and merch – Europe) HERE.

An album release party will take place on May 09 in Saint-Avertin. BTSTYX will also appear at XTREEM FEST on August 01; more gigs and festival appearances will be announced soon.

Riding across Europe since 2011, Tours-based Beyond The Styx manifests a dark and violent musical universe at the crossroads of hardcore punk, thrash, and even death metal. “Is our history an eternal beginning?” With this question, BTSTYX makes their way—like the flap of a butterfly’s wing that can grow into a storm of change. Their hardcore confronts the realities of today so that today’s world does not harden into the hell of tomorrow.

The French quintet has released a demo, an EP, and three widely praised LPs to date. A relentless live band, BTSTYX has played more than 300 shows across Europe, sharing stages with Sepultura, Terror, Walls of Jericho, Malevolence, and The Acacia Strain, while also appearing at festivals such as Hellfest and Motocultor Festival.

Building on the strengths of their third album Sentence, BTSTYX propels further with the upcoming record DIVID, their most aggressive yet expressive work to date. The ten songs on the album radiate caustic, abrasive fury, cut through by frequent, almost unearthly breakdowns that nevertheless feel natural. While flashes of stab-frenzy metal swagger appear throughout, their relentless, snarling attack remains far closer to hardcore than to metal. Yet even in the most pit-ready moments, a menacing darkness lurks beneath the surface.

The record digs into a world stuck in permanent conflict, where inherited hatred, social indifference, war, environmental collapse, and personal breakdown feed an endless cycle of division. It expresses an authentic desire to expose evils gnawing at a decadent modern society—where many remain silent out of fear, others embrace rampant individualism, and only a few still try to preserve what little hope remains. At its core, DIVID pushes listeners to face that reality instead of looking away.

In a world more divided than ever, BTSTYX answer with the same raging live energy that has defined them for years. As the band puts it: “No More Borders! Cross The River!”
