Khirki release video for second single from upcoming album

Heavy Rock

On April 12, the highly anticipated sophomore full-length record “Κυκεώνας” by Greek heavy rock outfit KHIRKI will be released via Venerate Industries. Now, the band has unveiled the second single from the upcoming album, titled “Father Wind”. Accompanying the release is a music video directed and filmed by Kostas Konstantinidis & Panagiotis Tsalavrettas.

KHIRKI comments:

“During a long drive for a gig, we realized we share a tremendous passion for sea shanties, and Stan Rogers especially. Given that ‘ΚΥΚΕΩΝΑΣ’ is a sea-themed album, ‘Father Wind’ is our own little sea shanty, a sailor’s prayer so to speak. It starts with him calling out to his higher powers for guidance, then he addresses the crew as an act of encouragement and willpower. We shot the video during a night shift on a fishing boat – yes, a REAL fishing boat- crew and all. It was a truly unique experience, and we think the video came out the same way. Actor Dimitris Petropoulos gives a fantastic performance as the strict yet fragile captain. This song speaks volumes about where we come from and who we are.“

Drawing inspiration from the legendary sorceress Circe from Homer’s Odyssey, KHIRKI continues to captivate audiences with their unique blend of Rock’n’Roll and seductive Greek Folk on their upcoming album.

Despite the challenges of creating a sophomore album, KHIRKI has managed to uphold their very own mixture of sounds, while also expanding their musical horizons. “Κυκεώνας” weaves mythological tales with traditional instruments, proggy twists, captivating choruses, bass-heavy beats, 70s rock vibes, and powerful metal riffs, creating an intoxicating musical experience. Lyrically, the album pays tribute to the elemental power and symbolism of the sea, delving into themes of storms and the call of freedom.

For the recordings, KHIRKI collaborated once again with acclaimed producer Theodore Zefkilis, known for his work with bands like Rotting Christ and Planet of Zeus, capturing the essence of their sound in Athens during the Spring of 2023. The album artwork was beautifully crafted by Manster Design, enhancing the visual representation of the band’s music.

“Κυκεώνας” will be coming out on April 12 via Venerate Industries and is available for pre-order at THIS LOCATION
