‘Ad Arma’ is a classical intro and a throwback to older Heaven Shall Burn. The last time they did these kind of intro/intermezzos dates back to 2010 on the album ‘Invictus.’ It was a trademark of the band at that time so I’m glad they implemented it back into their songs. After the classical orchestra we get the rollercoaster ‘War Is The Father Of All’ above us. A beautiful transition. A very bombastic song and in the beginning we hear a real life choir from Ukraine. ‘My Revocation Of Compliance’ has no comprises, it just hits you like a freight train. With ‘Confounder’ we hear some pieces of electro in the beginning that works out really well. ‘Empowerment’ shows us their is still a reason to fight for what you love and that is anchored in this song. ‘A Whisper From Above’ is the melodic Heaven Shall Burn and has a little wink too ‘Hunters Will be Hunted and Corium.’ With ‘Imminence’ we get a classical intermezzo and the funny part is the title. Incidentally, the metal band Imminence had a song on their new album called ‘Heaven Shall Burn.’ The guys of Heaven Shall Burn don’t know these guys personally, but they thought ‘Imminence’ was a pretty good title so they called the song ‘Imminence.’
After the intermezzo we get ‘Those Left Behind’ which is yet again classic Heaven Shall Burn. ‘Ten Days In May’ is a real story and tells us about the student resistance in South-Korea back in 1980. Beautifully performed by the band. On each album they have a cover of a band that inspired them and this time they choose for the other godfathers of metalcore Killswitch Engage. They choose the song ‘Numbered Days’ from their album ‘Alive Or Just Breathing.’ And to top that the one and only Jesse Leach from Killswitch Engage has a guest appearance on this song. ‘Dora’ keeps the spirit alive and with ‘A Silent Guard’ we can enjoy for a last time the tunes of Heaven Shall Burn before they fade away with ‘Inter Arma’. The album ends as it began with a classical outro and they succeeded yet again with a decent release.
On Spotify they added 4 bonus tracks. Three of them are in their own language. ‘Keinen Schritt Zurück’ together with the German punkrock band Donots. ‘Schweineherbst’ with new wave band Dÿse and finally ‘Eisenkopf’ and ‘Destroy Fascism’. I’m not gonna tell you anything about it;you have to discover yourself. But I can tell you it is worth the trouble.
