Muse announce new album ‘The WOW! Signal’ and share a first track

GRAMMY® award-winning British rock band MUSE announced their tenth studio album ‘The WOW! Signal’, which will be released on June 26 via Warner Records. The announcement took on a literally alien character: in collaboration with Sent Into Space , the band sent a specially designed tablet 33 kilometers into the atmosphere to premiere the music video of “Be With You”. A second package contained stickers for a limited vinyl release that can be claimed by fans.

The WOW! Signal is the first album since Will Of The People (2022), which debuted at number 1 on both Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums. As a first taste, MUSE shares the powerful lead single “Be With You”, along with an official music video featuring Ella Balinska (Resident Evil, The Occupant).

“Be With You” opens with a huge church organ and the equally epic vocals of Matt Bellamy, while zooming in on a fierce moment: “It seems my light’s been swallowed up, I’ve used up every ounce of luck / I need to leap into the fire, find a higher power, and reach for something new.” Soon the song erupts into driving electronica and solid rock, while the narrator’s perspective shifts from desperation to determination: “I feel my life has just begun, it can’t just be with anyone / It’s got to be with you.”

The music video, directed by Nico Paolillo (Deafheaven, BAD OMENS), translates that feeling into a cinematic and visually powerful story. As a red glow appears around the moon, Balinska notices increasingly strange phenomena and is pulled into the night, as it were. Eventually, she meets someone guided by the same mysterious force, after which they witness an impressive and disturbing phenomenon together.

The title ‘The WOW! Signal’ refers to one of the most intriguing interstellar mysteries of the last century: a powerful 72-second radio signal pulse that was picked up from the constellation Sagittarius in 1977. The intensity and bandwidth pointed to a possible extraterrestrial origin. The astronomer who discovered the signal circled the sequence “6EQUJ5” and wrote “WOW!” on the printout — a name that has since become iconic within both science and pop culture.

Although “Be With You” is only a first taste, the themes of the song summarize the core of the album well: cosmic mystery, existential hope and the intriguing possibility of contact with something bigger than ourselves.
