On September 30th, the Draconian Darkness Over Europe Tour brought a wave of melodic darkness to DVG Club in Kortrijk, headlined by Finland’s Wolfheart. The night featured four bands — but with such a full line-up, the show started early, and we unfortunately missed opener Full House Brew Crew (Greece). From what we heard, they kicked things off very well.

Suotana (Finland) was the first band we saw — and they were a pleasant surprise. Their music came alive on stage, far surpassing the studio versions. The double bass drum thundered through the venue and gave their set an immediate, driving force that pulled the crowd.

Next up, Before the Dawn (Finland) delivered a set full of dark atmosphere and melodic weight. Their blend of old classics and newer material from their comeback was well-received, and the presence of guitarist Vagelis Karzis as the live guitarist for this tour, who also plays in Wolfheart with Tuomas Saukkonen (behind the drumkit here), created a nice musical through-line across both bands.

Headliners Wolfheart closed the evening with a crushing and atmospheric performance. The set was tight and immersive — cold, heavy, and cinematic. A definite highlight of the night was “Breakwater”, a fan-favourite that hit hard with its emotional intensity and sweeping dynamics. Tuomas Saukkonen and the band delivered it with precision and passion, and the crowd responded with full force.
