Behemoth -The Shit Ov God

The polish extreme metal machine Behemoth is back with their newest throw 'The Shit Ov God.' After the release of the masterpieces 'Evangelion' and 'The Satanist,' we didn't think they could do better. The albums that came after, 'I Loved You At Your Darkest' and 'Opvs Contra Natvram' were not bad but couldn't beat 'Evangelion' and 'The Satanist.' With the release of their first single 'The Shit Ov God' I was enthusiastic. It was a punch in the face, so I was curious what they had in store for their new album, 'The Shit Ov God.'

And we’re off with ‘The Shadow Elite’ that burst out his chains. My dream is coming through, Behemoth is back and we will know it. ‘The Shadow Elite’ tears you apart with his brutality and darkness. With ‘Sowing Salt’ they are welcoming their raw sound and is one of the best songs they wrote to date. Then we have ‘The Shit Ov God’ that has been released on single, and we go back to the sound of ‘Evangelion’. We’re they had the same scapegoat, namely God. And he doesn’t lie when he screams, ‘We are the shit ov God’. ‘Lvciferaeon’ is rumbling on through a pile of filth. Leaving everything behind to introduce their satanic mass, which you can see in their video clip for this song. It’s looks like it’s recorded in a church. I can only hope so. Is it a coincidence that the pope died a couple of weeks ago?

With ‘To Drown The Svn In Wine’ we are taking up the pace and is another one of the best songs they ever wrote and can be named with their other killer songs as ‘Ov Fire And The Void and Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer’. I want to see ‘Nomen Barbarvm’ live on stage, the atmosphere this song breathes is pure darkness. And I hope I can see it on a dark, cold night. ‘O, Venvs Come!’ gives me a kickback to ‘O Father O Satan O Sun!’ Fasten your seatbelts, cause we’re going out with a bang with the last song of the album. ‘Avgvr (The Dread Vvltvre).’ A brutal dead machine.

We can confirm that Behemoth is back with a killer album. After the release of ‘I Loved You At Your Darkest and Opvs Contra Natvram’ we weren’t that excited. They were more than good, but we wanted something more, cause with ‘Evangelion’ and ‘The Satanist’ they touched the sky. But now with ‘The Shit Ov God’ they are reaching for the sky again. Did I mention they play a headline set on our beloved Graspop Metal Meeting on the Friday? See you all there.

REVIEW SCORE

  • Music / Songwriting 9/10
  • Vocals / Lyrics 9/10
  • Mix / Production 8/10
  • Artwork & Packaging 7/10
  • Originality 8/10
8.2

13 stands for bad luck, but not for this Behemoth that’s releasing their 13th album ‘The Shit Ov God.’ It’s unholy, it’s filthy, it’s everything you ever wanted. Watch out for the polish metal machine.
