German thrash metal legends Kreator brought their massive “Krushers of the World tour” to Helsinki Ice Hall, celebrating their newest album with what stands as one of their largest stage productions ever seen in Finland. Joining them were Bay Area thrash icons Exodus, British death metal pioneers Carcass and powerviolence outfit Nails, making for an exceptionally stacked bill from top to bottom.

In 2025 Anna/ScarletMemory Photography covered again tons of bands and events both in Finland and Germany with her favorite captures being of shows from Amoral, Apocalyptica, Apulanta, Battle Beast, Blind Guardian, Bloodred Hourglass, Bush, Catch Your Breath, Cemetery Skyline, Cyan Kicks, Finntroll, Hammerfall, In Flames, Indica, Leverage, Lordi, Michael Monroe, Nothing More, Popeda, Powerwolf, Sabaton, Shade Empire, Sonata Arctica, The Legendary Orchestra, The Rock Orchestra, Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus, Toto, Volbeat and Wednesday 13.

The last stop, and no holding back. Cradle of Filth closed their “Splintered in Winter Tour” in Antwerp, with a crushing set from special guests and death metal legends Suffocation and a striking Belgian debut by the Australian misfits of Mélancolia.

Orbit Culture

On the European leg of the “Death Above Life world tour”, Orbit Culture made a stop at Trix in Belgium with their special guests Gaerea and openers Atlas. We were there!

Rotting Christ

Day 3 at Tolminator had it all, chaos, doom, filth, and ritual. Insanity Alert, Ahab, Dopethrone, Wolfbrigade, and Rotting Christ tore up the main stage!

Tolminator atmosphere

Tolminator isn’t just about the bands. It’s about the people who make it unforgettable. This year, our team (with trainee Nox and resident photographer Tom) captured the heart and soul of the festival: the faces, the chaos, the calm by the Soča river. Check out our photo gallery celebrating the spirit of Tolminator 2025!

The Obscure and Octagon stages delivered some of the most intense sets of Day 1 at Brutal Assault 2025. From the triumphant return of 3 Inches of Blood to the symphonic fury of Fleshgod Apocalypse, the crushing weight of Inter Arma, the haunting doom of Frayle, the occult darkness of Ruïm, and the mind-bending chaos of Oranssi Pazuzu, it was truely a journey through the extremes of heavy music!

Day 1 of Brutal Assault 2025 set the tone right away with a good mix of legends and crushing heaviness. From the epic Viking soundscapes of Skálmöld to the industrial grooves of Static-X, the unrelenting brutality of Dying Fetus, the thrash assault of Kerry King, and the dark rituals of Rotting Christ, the Marshall and Sea Shepherd stages started off the festival properly.

From ritual to symphonic extremity. Afsky, Vermilia and Septicflesh bringing different visions of darkness and extreme metal to the Coolhead Live concert series under a bright summer sky.

Tuska 2025 kicked off in full force on the main stage. From Horizon Ignited opening the day to Electric Callboy, Cradle of Filth, Knocked Loose, and headliners In Flames, Friday delivered from start to finish.

Interviews

Nervosa are back with ‘Slave Machine’ (out now with Napalm Records), and with it comes a band that feels stronger and more united than ever. We spoke with Helena and Hel Pyre about evolution, technology, songwriting, refusing to become slaves to modern chaos and why staying true to yourself matters more than ever.

Nearly 30 years in, Chthonic still see their music as a journey, one rooted in Taiwanese history, melody, and emotion. Just before a rare live appearance at the cultural exchange event Formosa:Finland:Fest in Helsinki, we spoke with the band about culture, tradition, and letting music speak for itself. Thanks to Ginger Vine Management & PR for setting this up!

Finnish extreme metal act Vanguardian are ready to unleash their debut full-length ‘III: Inhumanity’ (out October 22nd via Inverse Records) — a ferocious, human take on dystopian science fiction. We caught up with Markus and Mikko to talk about the album’s story, the balance between chaos and cohesion, and why imperfection makes their music truly alive.

At Alcatraz 2025, Avatar’s Johannes Eckerström opened up about the band’s next chapter: a new album that was not to be named (it has a name, but he was being a “good boy” in not unveiling the title), their fastest song in 15 years, and why independent festivals (like the one we were at) keep metal’s future alive.

We had a chat with Jussi and Pasi from Where’s My Bible about their latest album ‘Kave’ (out now via Inverse Records) and the new direction they took their music and lyrics with this one, adding new instruments, vibes, vocal delivery and themes into a new chapter for the band!

Catch them live tonight at On The Rocks in Helsinki as support for the anniversary show of …and Oceans!

We sat down with Onni and Kevin from Assemble the Chariots at Tuska 2024 to talk about their new album ‘Unyielding Night’ (set for release on July 19th via Seek and Strike), how this is the start of a whole universe they’re creating, with the sound they’ve always envisioned for the band from the beginning. And we came back from the talk with 2 things ingrained in our heads: listen to the album from start to finish, and make sure you make it to the release show at On The Rocks in Helsinki where they’ll play the album in its whole for what sounds like a unique experience…

A talk with Juan Brujo from Brujeria shortly before their show in Helsinki last summer, about their show at Obscene Extreme that started the Europe leg of the ‘Matando güeros’ anniversary tour, how crazy things get when they hit South America, and about the new album ‘Esto es Brujeria’ (out today via Nuclear Blast)!
