Progressive extreme metal outfit Meridian Veil sign to Season of Mist

Season of Mist is proud to welcome MERIDIAN VEIL.

Two decades in the making, Meridian Veil brings together four stars from across the vast sky of Canadian metal. On their own, guitarist Danny Marino (The Agonist), vocalist Matt McGachy (Cryptopsy), drummer Dylan Gowan (Seven Spires) and Leprous’ touring cellist Raphael Weinroth-Browne are well-known for melodic feats, deadly strength, enchanting symphonies and progressive flourish. With their new band, together, they are pushing themselves to even greater emotional extremes.

“We are very happy to sign with Season of Mist”, Marino says. “When Matt and I first met during the early 2000s, we wanted to make music together. From the beginning, the idea was for Meridian Veil to be deeply emotional. Even though our upcoming debut album gets heavy, there’s a deep longing that runs through the cautionary tale at its core”.

“I remember going home and feeling super excited”, McGachy says when remembering the initial writing and recording sessions for Meridian Veil. “Singing in this band is freeing for me. I’m happy to show that side of myself”.

“When you have a band that involves writers from different styles, you get something really unique”, Gowan says. “Meridian Veil is progressive metal with a very dark atmosphere and thought-provoking lyrics”.

“Upon hearing the demos for our upcoming album, I was struck by the quality of the songwriting”, Weinroth-Browne says. “I believe Meridian Veil captures the best aspects of 2000’s death metal and prog metal with a distinctly modern approach”.

More news about Meridian Veil’s inventive debut album is coming soon.
