Throwing Bricks & Ontaard share new track ‘Acid To Fascists’
A year after its explosive debut at Roadburn, a singular moment of collaboration, chaos, and catharsis is finally becoming permanent.
Dutch underground forces Throwing Bricks and Ontaard have announced the release of Something To Lose, a monumental live recording of their commissioned performance at Roadburn 2025, arriving April 10, 2026 on vinyl and all digital platforms.
Alongside the announcement, the project’s first glimpse, the searing track “Acid to Fascists”, is now premiering via Invisible Oranges, who describe the collaboration as: “These nigh-unclassifiable Dutch bands united to perform this joint composition — a whirlwind of sludge, screamo, black metal, post rock, industrial, and spoken word — and on the anniversary of that performance, the bands and their collaborators will make a recording of that set available to the world.”
When Throwing Bricks and Ontaard were asked to compose and perform a commissioned piece for Roadburn 2025, the invitation felt unreal. Both bands had performed at the festival individually the year before. This time, they returned to Tilburg’s legendary stage together, tasked with showcasing the thriving underground scene of Utrecht through a one-time, unrepeatable performance.
The result was Something To Lose, a towering, emotionally charged collaboration that pushed far beyond the boundaries of either band.
To realize the vision, Throwing Bricks and Ontaard expanded the lineup with close friends and collaborators. Yoni Drijfhout (TTFO) injected pulsating gabber kicks, Johanna Kouwenhoven added haunting viola, Yannick Verhoeven (Ramses3000) layered cosmic synth textures, and Joep Schmitz (GOTT) transformed sawblades, washing machine parts, and helium tanks into unconventional percussion. Together they formed a 13-piece ensemble, each member actively shaping the music and the result is a cathartic collage of black- and post metal, screamo, shoegaze, ambient, noise, and soul-crushing vocals.
But Something To Lose is more than an ambitious musical experiment. Rooted in long-standing friendships, the work reflects a moment of transition: work turning into careers, love turning into marriage, passion turning into profession. Growth that is both exhilarating and terrifying. With every opportunity gained comes the awareness of fragility. Not just personal fragility, but a world that feels increasingly unstable: the rise of fascism, climate collapse, ongoing violence, and collective despair.
The performance confronted that fragility head-on. Because having something to lose also means having something worth fighting for.
Those who witnessed the performance at Roadburn know: it was singular, volatile, and impossible to recreate. That is why the live recording is being released in its purest possible form, raw, immediate, and unpolished.
Something To Lose was recorded live at Roadburn 2025, mixed by Marius Prins (Throwing Bricks) and mastered by Role at Die Tonmeisterei. The artwork features photography by Niels Vinck, capturing the atmosphere of that unforgettable night. Pre-orders are now available at this location.
As the band themselves put it: “For us, this is more than just a live album. It is a document of friendship, a moment, and a collective leap into the unknown.”.
