Xavier apparently spent more time catching up with what he missed in 2022, than discovering new releases in a year that he seemed somewhat disappointed about what was coming out. The Belgian giants of post-metal, AMENRA, are gracing Europe’s stages with a tour in 2025. For over 20 years, the Belgians have unleashed incredible live experiences with their massive stage presence and a furious sonic tornado. The tour kick-off in Stuttgart was no exception. A night with overwhelming sound intensity took place, accompanied by YEAR OF THE COBRA, a project from their recently added new bassist Amy Tung Barrysmith.

We sat down with Svalbard at Alcatraz 2023 to have a chat about their new album ‘The Weight of the Mask’ (out October 6th via Nuclear Blast) and the importance of the mental illness topic on it, talking about what they would say to someone who struggles and what they hope the music could mean to their listeners.
