With about a week to go, we put together 10 reasons why we think you should consider to still get yourself a ticket for Alcatraz 2024 and join in with the fun! With a stellar line-up, including some of the best the Belgian scene has to offer and a great organization trying to improve your festival experience year after year, it’s promising to be one hell of a weekend again!
After the team sent in their top lists at the end of last year, and calculating the results, we got to an interesting “albums of the year 2023” list featuring releases from Marduk, Kludde, Blink-182, Blackbraid, Orbit Culture, Gloryhammer, Ne Obliviscaris, Hypno5e, Periphery, Dying Fetus, Obituary, Avatar, Svalbard, VV and Sleep Token! Do you agree with any of these? What did you have in your top list?

The last day of a long and exhausting weekend of great music and atmosphere brought some of the best of the sludge, post-metal and psychedelic rock scene with Psychonaut, Gaupa, Stake, Brutus and Cult of Luna!
Second day at an exciting edition of Alcatraz with Predatory Void, Shadow Of Intent, Decapitated, and Sodom on the Swamp Stage ripping it up!
On the first day of Alcatraz 2023, the Helldorado Stage was the place to be for all the hardcore kids with shows from Do Or Die, Slapshot, Downset, Terror, Prong, Converge and Agnostic Front!
Every year, one day of the 10-day long Lokerse Feesten is dedicated to metal. A day full of headbanging, mosh-pits and heavy guitars with this year Hammok, Biohazard, Doodseskader, Bullet For My Valentine, Psychonaut, Megadeth, Slift, Within Temptation, Stake and Amenra.
Igorrr returned to the Finnish shores with their “Distortion European Tour”, joined by Amenra and Der Weg Einer Freiheit, bringing not only a musical treat, but also a visual feast to the Pakkahuone venue in Tampere!
Belgian radio channel Studio Brussel threw a big party in VIERNULVIER for their 40th birthday with only headliners: Psychonaut, STAKE and Brutus!
A mix and explosion of different sounds from post-metal and post-rock to hardcore and sludge and everything in between, presented by Heriot, Holy Fawn and Rolo Tomassi at Feierwerk in Munich, Germany!
Back in Munich, Sweden’s Katatonia and co-headliners Iceland’s Sólstafir brought the luxurious company SOM and warmed up a cold winter night nicely at the Backstage venue.
The first stop on Katatonia’s and Sólstafirs co-headlineing tour was Pakkahuone in Tampere, Finland with SOM as support act. If you’re still hesitant about getting tickets for a show near you, let these captures convince you!
Finally! The Belgian lock down period is over and little by little we’re able to attend gigs again. be it small ones, but it’s something… My first show sure was something though!
