Lamb Of God – Lamb Of God

In 1994 vocalist Randy Blythe, guitarists Mark Morton and Matt Conner, bassist John Campbell and drummer Chris Adler started a band called Burn The Priest. They released 2 albums under this name and then decided to change their name to Lamb Of God. Now 26 years later they released their 10th album called ‘Lamb Of God.’ It’s the first time with new drummer Art Cruz since they parted ways with longtime band member Chris Adler after 25 years. They are big shoes to fill cause Chris Adler had a big influence to the sound of Lamb Of God. So here we go.

‘Memento Mori’ kicks off with a slow intro and then explodes with a loud “Wake Up!!!!!!” This is also their first single and has a creepy music video that came along with it. And it’s simply Lamb Of God at its best with the groove and heaviness we expect them to deliver.

The American killing machine is back cause ‘Checkmate’ destroys everything on it’s pad. It’s a typical Lamb Of God album and maybe that’s why they released a self-titled album finally. Just listen to ‘Gears’ or ‘Reality Bath.’ On ‘New Colossal Hate’ for instance, Art Cruz shows how good of a job he’s doing in replacing Chris Adler.

‘Resurrection Man’ has again that typical Lamb Of God vibe. Then we have two songs that stick out more. The first one is ‘Poison Dream’ with a guest vocal appearance from Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed) and the other one is ‘Routes’ with a guest vocal appearance from Chuck Billy (Testament).

Then we finally have only 2 songs left in the form of ‘Bloodshot Eyes’ and ‘On The Hook’ that bring back the more typical Lamb Of God sound.
And that’s the only downside to this album; it’s again a great album but it’s sort of all the same. It’s not a bad album, but they have made better ones in the past. A true fan of Lamb Of God, however, can listen to this without any concern.

7.6The 10th album of Lamb Of God is aggressive, fast and groovy as we've come to expect from this metal institution. Even though they don't bring anything new or surprising, it's again a solid banger and we truly hope we can hear it live as soon as we can!
