Catalonian-based death doom sextet Onirophagus unleashed its third full-length album “Revelations from the Void” via Personal Records on January 17th, 2025. While listening to the band’s latest album they have somehow resurrected the early style of My Dying Bride, and with the refined skills of the guitars blending melodies into a slow procession of doom metal.

My preference for 70s hard rock music never changed, although I grew up listening to many hard rock bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Camel, and many more since my teenage years. Another unique band that I have become fond of in the last few years is Britain’s progressive folk-rock group Jethro Tull. Forged in 1967, the band has been active for over four decades, despite the hiatus of six years they were reunited in 2017 and released few album outputs “The Zealot Gene” which was released in 2022 and followed by another album “RökFlöte” in 2023.

Nanowar of Steel is an Italian band that creates parody metal. What's that, you might ask? Well, in short, they have a great sense of humor and know how to put that in metal songs. They create amazing music on their own, but also take existing songs and tweak them that much that they become hilariously good. This album contains the audio of their sold out live show at Alcatraz, Milan in their home country Italy. 3000 people watched this show, now this memory can be spread to those who weren't there as well. The live shows cover 2 CDs. The third one is a collection of 9 studio released songs. Let's check it out!

It's early in the year, and we already have a candidate for becoming a highly decorated album. It comes out of Sweden. THE HELLACOPTERS give a new example of their enduring appeal with their latest album, 'Overdriver'. Released on January 31, 2025, the 8th album continues the band's tradition of delivering pushing high-energy rock 'n' roll with a very vivid retro vibe. And a very fitting continuity to their 2022 album 'Into Oblivion'.

Canada’s death metal titans Ex Deo's musical orientation coursed in the concept of theatrical and symphonic death metal was branded in the modern sound with the band’s 2009 debut album “Romulus”. However, the success of the side project of Kataklysm’s frontman Maurizio Iacono certainly forged an impressive sound that often recalls acts such as Septic Flesh and Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Grima has found itself on the atmospheric spectrum of black metal and showcasing everything the band has stood for since its formation. The vehemence emits the cold austerity of rawness. The fuzz-icy guitars take the spotlight, encapsulating a somber mood and allowing the melodies to convey the essence of beauty. Grima returns to lay the groundwork for their career with an impressive album, “Nightside” out via Napalm Records on February 28th, 2025, is atmospherically and blisteringly melancholic in its form.

Avantasia's 10th studio album is set to release on February 28, 2025. It carries the name 'Here Be Dragons' and features a huge dragon on the cover. It looks very cool, and I'm eager to hear the story that's told on this one. Let's check it out!

Ready for some time travel? Yes? Okay, then listen to this great album! After the drilling sound that acts as the intro for the opening song 'Drill Into The Brain' you will not be able to say if this album is from 1985 or from 2025. Even though HIRAX look back on 40 years of band history, 'Faster Than Death' is only their sixth (6!) long player.

After releasing three albums, the Finnish purveyors of pagan black metal Havukruunu return with new album “Tavastland” out via Svart Records on February 28th, 2025. The fourth studio album is based on the ancient story of Tavastland and the events that took place in 1237 about the rebellion of the Tavastians against the Church, driving the popes naked into the frost to die. As such, the album offers the primeval spirit of Havukruunu and the longing menace of folk melodies, blistering guitar solos, and glorious riffs that harken to the past.
