The pioneering force of Greek black metal formation Yoth Iria, which maintains the old-fashioned spirit of Hellenic bands, has now spawned a whole new sound of mastermind Jim Mutilator (bass). The sonic enthusiasm of Yoth Iria pushes their boundaries in such a refined manner, which would surely have fans raving for the third studio album “Gone with the Devil” out via Metal Blade Records on May 8th, 2026. The consistent lineup on this album includes guitarists Nikolas Perlepe and Naberius, vocalist He, and drummer Bill "Vongaar" Stavrianidis.

The guitar’s striking quality brings an epic experience to the songs; the ambitious songwriting sees Yoth Iria embracing bombastic elements. The opening track, “Dare to Rebel”, sets an ominous tone for the album. The effective riffs and melodies add atmospheric depth to the songs, and musically speaking, “Gone with the Devil” continues where the sophomore “Blazing Inferno” left off.

Although there is a similar sound to modern Rotting Christ, rest assured, Yoth Iria knows how to treat its fans. The traditional Hellenic instruments work quite well with menacing dark vocals, and despite the pompous sound, the drums and guitars provide an upbeat tempo. The folk elements and the chants are backed by a full blazing guitar, emphasizing harmonies and excellent lead guitar work, which takes center stage in the following song, “Woven Spells of a Demon”.

The album envisions a majestic scale, while the music takes you across the ancient Hellenic temples and landmarks. There is a fantastic blend of heavy metal and melodic black metal throughout “The Blind Eye of Antichrist”. The symphonic bluster spices things up with ambient keyboards, epic atmosphere, and ferocious drums, which add the characteristic sound of Greek black metal.

The dramatic chants, melodic abundance, and blast beats highlight Yoth Iria‘s passionate spirit, delivering a majestic presentation; each track contains infectious melodies and reflects the dark, demonic theme. Track like “I, Totem” is an extremely powerful song and puts you in a loop of the Hellenic folk melodies.

The guitar and drums spawn a catchy chorus so potent that it is both captivating and blends with female vocals. The refined scale of songwriting keeps the music in opulent standards, like the guitars that dance to the flames in the temple of the Goddess, where the waltzing melodies create the intensity.

The sharp riffing barrages you with heavy, catchy folk melodies as the band offers a wonderful symmetry to its musical expression. Towering scale screams on the third studio album. The witching hour ticks at “3 am”, and with it, Yoth Iria triggers a stampede of galloping guitars and drums; the rhythm guitar is catchy, spares any moments of dullness. Instead, the fiery riffing feels profoundly majestic; one could easily marvel at the work of art. The guitars heighten the mood with aggression and atmosphere, and nonetheless become full of upbeat moments like in “Give ‘Em My Beautiful Hell”.

The thunderous grooves become saturated with folk melodies, and every song is rooted in the ominous vocals that make full use of choirs, guitar chugs, and war-filled riffs. “Once in a Blue Moon” is thoroughly catchy, and the compelling rhythm lends ominous emphasis to the gloomy chants. Yoth Iria commemorates Rotting Christ for what it has achieved on its classic albums “A Dead Poem” and “The Sleep of Angels”. This proves mastery of Jim Mutilator, who speaks of his glorious past with the band.

Blessed Be He Who Enters” and “The End of the Known Civilization”, conveying a sense of aggression and nostalgic melodies that will remind fans of 90s melodic black metal.

The band focuses on a mid-paced tempo, and the guitars showcase an excellent blend of gothic atmosphere, melodies, and aggression. The vocals complement the soaring lead-guitar work; the fury of black metal elements works wonders with the drums providing a thundering beat to the memorable riffing without sacrificing the epic approach.

The closing track “Harut-Government-Fallen” continues with the booming riffing, the choir arrangements, and the rhythm that entails a burning sentiment of the past. The cadence and bombastic swagger will possess you, with grandeur and beauty conjuring majestic moments at the end of this sublime track.
