GG Magree announces debut album and release new single ‘Wet Dreams’

Producer, vocalist, and all-around musical vixen GG Magree announced her debut album “Spit Love” due for release on October 22 via Rise Records/BMG.

“This album is everything they told me not to be,” she says. “But it isn’t just about me; it’s about rewriting the narrative for every woman, every queer person, every soul who’s ever been told they’re too much. So love yourself — hard. Own your story. And let the world choke on it.”

Indeed, Magree, who grew up in one of Sydney’s most historic gay clubs, learned to shed inhibition and embrace freedom early on. Her newest track and video “Wet Dreams”, envisions a sex rave fantasy come to life with an all-LGBTQ cast and GG celebrating her bisexual identity.

Like its precursors, “Bleed” and “Run,” the first two songs and videos released from “Spit Love”, “Wet Dreams” continues the horror-filled narrative of a stripper played by Magree with a penchant for human flesh and blood. The story will culminate in a short film to be released in late October.

“I make art that bleeds, screams, seduces and liberates. I don’t make music to be liked — I make it to be free,” says Magree “A voice for the hyper-sexualized, abused and underestimated. For the woman told to ‘calm down’ and the queer kids told to ‘cover up.’”

Like some kind of glittering love witch, GG Magree conjures sex and death to create lyrical alchemy — with a hefty helping of joyful sleaze. Whether it be her one-on-one convos with the spirit world, or a new film in which she cosplays as a cannibal stripper, the electro-punk-loving Aussie is channeling it all on her first full-length LP, Spit Love, out late October on BMG/Rise.

Magree grew up in the heart of the Australian club scene; her dad owned one of the more historic gay clubs in the country, and she was celebrating birthdays there well before it was legal. Rubbing elbows with the likes of Steve Aoki, the Bloody Beetroots, and scene photographer the Cobrasnake (she was his muse), Magree toured and collaborated with EDM star NGHTMRE (they dropped “Frontlines” with Zeds Dead in 2016) and performed on stages at Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Ultra Music Festival.  She’s channeled those electronic roots into  heavy, powerful industrial sound in her new music.
