Iterum Nata unveils raw, transformational progressive folk journey with new album ‘Heartwood’

Folk

From the frost-etched landscapes of Finland, where 70s progressive rock labyrinths meet the visceral shadows of extreme metal, Iterum Nata returns. Multi-instrumentalist Jesse Heikkinen (Hexvessel, The Abbey) has announced the project’s most emotionally potent work to date: Heartwood, set for release on April 17, 2026, via Nordvis Produktion.

Iterum Nata, Latin for “Born Again,” represents the sound of total personal transition. Born from a period of intense volatility, Heartwood is fueled by a defiant, “fuck you” energy that shattered the compositional constraints of Heikkinen‘s previous works. The result is an intentionally unconfined sonic experience, weaving together jarring progressive textures and ethereal melodies.

The album’s virtuosic DNA is a literal inheritance; Heikkinen’s father was a legendary electric guitarist, famously ranked 6th on the list of greatest Finnish players of all time in the 1990s. This legacy of fretboard mastery permeates Heartwood, blending intricate instrumentation with a raw, stream-of-consciousness lyrical process. In a unique creative ritual, Heikkinen wrote all lyrics in a single, high-stakes session during recording, allowing the songs to reveal their true meanings to him only after the tape stopped rolling.

The journey began with the release of the debut single, “Forgiveness Undone,” featuring KING DUDE, now available on all streaming platforms.

In tandem with the single, pre-orders for Heartwood are officially open. Fans in Finland can access an exclusive pre-sale campaign via Levykauppa Äx, featuring a limited-edition art poster. In a deeply personal touch, each poster features a unique piece of lyrics from the album, handwritten by Heikkinen on the reverse side.
