Libbianski announce new EP and share lead single ‘Continue the Sad’

Shoegaze

Emerging from the vibrant Aotearoa shoegaze scene, Libbianski are charting a new chapter with their forthcoming EP EP1, due for release on December 5, 2025 via their home imprint Over The Hill Records. The new collection, self-recorded and produced by the band in their home studio, captures the raw DIY essence of their evolving three-piece lineup — and marks the next step in a journey that’s been gaining underground acclaim since their 2024 debut, Useless Splendour.

Formed in 2022, Libbianski bring together a cross-section of Wellington’s underground — with backgrounds spanning post-metal, alternative rock, and dream pop — to create a sound that’s equal parts visceral and ethereal. Their mix of crushing guitars, driving bass, and heavy, hypnotic drums has drawn comparisons to shoegaze’s greats while carving out a distinctly local identity.

Following an ambitious run of tours across New Zealand and Australia in 2024 (with the support of Footstomp Music), Libbianski are now channeling their onstage intensity into a fresh, stripped-down studio sound. EP1 embodies that spirit — textured, dynamic, and emotionally dense — a reflection of a band finding new focus in self-production and sonic experimentation.

Building on the momentum of Useless Splendour — which was recorded by Troy Kelly at The Armoury, mixed by Chris Johnson (Deafheaven, The Electric Bunker), and mastered by Alan Douches (West West Side Music, NY) — Libbianski continue to push the edges of shoegaze and post-rock, shaping noise into something beautiful and immediate.

With EP1 and the lead single “Continue The Sad,” the band invites listeners deeper into their dreamlike world — one where melancholy and melody collide in widescreen, overdriven haze.
