Mexico punk rockers Margaritas Podridas sign to Hopeless Records!
Shoegaze/grunge/punk rockers Margaritas Podridas are breaking out into global stardom. The Sonora, Mexico based band has their sights set on new heights as they ink their first U.S. record deal with Hopeless Records, and unveil an all new single “Tornillo”. The quartet, fronted by Carolina Enriquez, has been steadily rising to punk rock stardom, grabbing attention left and right with their raucous anthems of rebellion and statement-making stage presence. It’s no wonder everyone from Rolling Stone to NPR are giving the band a listen. Check out the new track HERE.
Margaritas Podridas says of the track:
“Tornillo is our latest song. It’s a little taste of the corrosive sound that will embody our third album. It’s a song about crazy people that steal personalities from others”.
The Hermosillo, Mexico-based quartet Margaritas Podridas was born out of admiration for the underground rock landscape of the ’90s, culling from the distortion-laden songwriting of the grunge scene, the scuzz-coated pop of shoegaze, and the noisy sojourns of that decade’s college rock’s guitar icons. Sonics aside, there’s a political streak and DIY ethic in Margaritas Podridas that recalls the confrontational idealism of their musical forebearers, evidenced in their underage scene building efforts in their hometown, their negation of the English language despite their growing international fanbase, and their penchant for giving the middle finger to sexism in both the music industry and the broader world.
