Pretty Pity shares new single ‘HELP’
Sun-soaked pop rock chameleons, Pretty Pity, return today with their latest single, “HELP”, a candid look at struggling with your mental health while refusing to admit you need support. Building on the band’s blend of pop, punk, and metal, “HELP” wrestles with self-doubt, stubborn independence, and the distractions that make it easier to avoid admitting something needs to change. Listen to “HELP” HERE.
Dealing with the ways distraction can pass for coping and how independence can become an excuse to keep people out, “HELP” takes on the impulse to keep everything to yourself, even when it’s making things worse. Balancing pop-rock hooks with punchy guitars and a sharp sense of humor, Pretty Pity use “HELP” as a loud, restless outlet.
On how writing “HELP” changed her approach to her mental health, vocalist Tani Jade shares:
“Our new single HELP dives deep into my personal experiences with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and panic disorder. The song speaks on my struggle to ask for help even when I know I need it, and the coping mechanisms I use instead. It highlights a self awareness of burying heavy emotions deep down until they eat you alive. It feels easier for me to self isolate when I spiral like this, and though I know that reaching out and talking to someone would help, the fear of judgement tells me to hide myself away.
HELP also speaks about the ego, and sometimes pretentiousness, that keeps me from asking for help with projects and/or tasks because I fear either looking incapable or that whomever I give the task to won’t do it, what I consider to be, the “right” way. This refusal to ask for help stacks up until I experience a level of burnout that completely shuts my body down for a few days. Talking through these emotions with the guys while finding the best ways to express these feelings in the lyrics was so freeing and actually inspired me to start therapy which, not surprisingly, has been incredibly helpful in allowing me to learn to process feelings, ask for help, and let go of control. To anyone who relates to these feelings, I hope this song helps you as much as it’s helped me.”

Founded in Central Florida, Pretty Pity is bringing a new and unique flavor to the Pop Rock genre. They’ve garnered attention from many for captivating hooks, tasty guitar riffs, and pop vocal gymnastics which have gone viral online. Their most recent music releases have reignited a core fan base which grew from their consistent involvement and support of their local scene.
Consisting of Tani Jade (vocals) David Kislik (lead guitar) Alex Gonzalez (bass) Billy De Guzman (rhythm guitar) and Hernando Torrealba (Drums) the band continues to impress audiences with vulnerable lyrics based on real life experiences, and explosively magnetic live performances that make it nearly impossible to take your eyes off the stage.
With each band member regularly listening to different genres and styles of music, it is hard to pin point exactly what makes a Pretty Pity song, just that. In each track you’ll notice influences of Metal with heavy guitars and complicated riffage, Pop Punk flares in the drums, a Classic Rock feel to the thick bass lines, and glimmers of Pop music encased within the melodies. Making each song entirely its own. Need an example? Just listen.
