Rising queer indie-alternative artist Black Polish shares new single & video
Rising queer indie-alternative artist Black Polish, aka Jayden Binnix (they/them), shares their new single “BONDAGE.” Bold and sadistic in its sound and lyrics, the song highlights the internal struggle of self-growth. “I’m interested in the idea of being erotic while fully clothed. Now that I’m 20, I am willing to share that explicit side of me,” notes Black Polish “Though bondage is usually seen as sexual, the intentions were to showcase the ‘negative’ parts of you clinging on harder when you try to push them away. “The only way to free yourself from the battle is self forgiveness.”
Black Polish has also released a video for “BONDAGE,” expanding on their musical and visual world. Directed by Gus Black (Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine, Foy Vance), who also directed the video for “BE WITH YOU,” Black Polish notes of the video: “This is how it feels to fight with yourself to break your habits. Don’t let evil win.” They add, “It’s fashion mixed with power and sexual energy wrapped with a designer bow.”
“BONDAGE” follows their most recent single release “BE WITH YOU” from earlier this year which saw praise from Alternative Press, Paste Magazine, Queerty and more. It also marked their first release since signing to BMG and first since the 2024 release of their debut album Forest.
Black Polish embarked on their musical journey at the age of 13. Drawing inspiration from a diverse array of artists including Fleetwood Mac, Nicki Minaj, Twenty One Pilots and Mitski, they released their debut album Forest last year. Black Polish brings a unique perspective to their interpretation of the world. Their presence is marked by a powerful assertion of identity which includes being a part of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. They also ardently champion mental health awareness while maintaining a heightened sensitivity towards other marginalized groups. Their rich tapestry of life experiences continues to inform Black Polish‘s art and music.
