Venus Grrrls channel The Hex Girls in grungey music video for new single

,

VENUS GRRRLS match the unfiltered feminine rage of newly-released single “3×3” with its just-released accompanying music video. Unapologetic and undeniable, the new track marks both the band’s first release for alt-rock label Killabop and the label’s very first release. The video is imbibed with VENUS GRRRLS’ affinity to The Hex Girls of Scooby-Doo fame, furthering its ‘90s vibes. The band also reference ‘The Love Witch’ and Hammer horror, when speaking on the video’s visual cues, saying “we didn’t want to take this video too seriously; it’s all about putting a whimsical and theatrical spin on a high voltage performance.” Intimately shot in guitarist Eliza’s house and grungily infused with subtle witchy coven energy, the intoxicating clip was directed by Misha Warren and the band.

Punk in spirit and confrontational by design,”3×3“’ is an invitation by VENUS GRRRLS to harness the power of unadulterated feminine rage. Stomp-ready percussion and dark bass rhythms collide with jagged riffs and abrasive synth lines without compromising VENUS GRRRLS’ signature cinematic vocals, resulting in an ambitious concoction that balances chaos and precision. “3×3” is the band’s most lyrically direct track yet, inspired by the disorientating aftermath of a relationship breakdown and the uncomfortable truths that follow. It was produced in collaboration with Max Helyer (You Me At Six) and Numen Studios.

VENUS GRRRLS will take the supreme energy of “3×3” and their burgeoning arsenal of killer tunes on the road as they join Nova Twins on tour, bringing their captivating live show to stages across the UK in March. They’re also set to play various festivals across Europe over the summer including 2000Trees (UK) and Rock For People (Czechia).

VENUS GRRRLS are the northern alt-rock coven of your dreams. Based between Leeds, Newcastle and Liverpool, the five-piece force weaving goth-grunge intensity with evocative, otherworldly storytelling, and as a result, their music is as poetic as it is powerful.

Joining Sprints on their SOLD-OUT ‘Letter To Self’ tour in April 2024, VENUS GRRRLS had a packed summer schedule performing at Liverpool’s Sound City, Kendall Calling, Y Not Festivals before making their debut at Isle Of Wight and Reading & Leeds. Shortly after, the band embarked on their September headline tour where they sold-out multiple dates including London, Glasgow, Newcastle, Bristol and Birmingham. This year, the band made another round of impressive festival debuts at SXSW in the US, Block Party in France, Download Festival and 2000Trees in the UK. They played their biggest headline shows to date in October 2025.

With their breakout track ‘Divine’ dubbed “a glorious start to 2024” by DIY Magazine, the band quickly made their mark. Following with singles ‘Bloodsick’ and ‘Darla,’ VENUS GRRRLS continued to craft delicate yet thunderous soundscapes, underpinned by deep, lyrical storytelling. The band released ‘Eighteen Crows’ in March 2025, a track born of their recent artistic partnership with Max Helyer (You Me At Six) and Numen Studios, which has continued with their latest “3×3“.

VENUS GRRRLS’ efforts received radio recognition from tastemakers such as BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, BBC Radio 1’s Future Artists and Selector Radio host Sian Eleri, BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq and Iggy Pop to name a few. Due to the whirlwind nature of the band’s momentum, VENUS GRRRLS achieved equally impressive press acclaim from the likes of Kerrang!, Guitar World, The Independent, CLASH, Upset, Rock Sound and more. They have been spotlighted by 101 Part Times Jobs Podcast, ITV Calendar and BBC Look North also.

In moves that speak to their personal experience, VENUS GRRRLS align their artistry with impact. For their 2024 headline tour, the band partnered with stem cell transplant charity Anthony Nolan to raise awareness of stem cell donation. Earlier this year, GK appeared in a short film by Teenage Cancer Trust before the band’s performance at the charity’s fundraising event.
