Black metal project Machtklang unveils new single ‘Herbsthymne’

Black Metal

German black metal project Machtklang, led by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Christina “Herrin”, has released the single “Herbsthymne”, the closing track of the forthcoming self-titled debut album. The album is set for release on December 24, 2024, and marks a pivotal moment in Herrin’s artistic journey.

Formerly known as Finsterort, Machtklang emerged in February 2024 with a renewed identity and direction, channeling Herrin’s deeply personal experiences and defiant spirit.

For Christina, a trans woman from Munich, Machtklang is not only a musical project but also a vehicle for addressing years of pain and anger, including trauma from childhood abuse by a Catholic nun. Machtklang’s unapologetically anti-religious stance seeks to challenge harmful ideologies while empowering those who have been silenced or harmed by religious institutions.

Herrin’s lyrics explore themes of freedom, individuality, and resistance, adopting a satanic philosophy as a metaphor for rebellion and personal autonomy.

Machtklang’s music blends the raw energy of black metal with atmospheric and doom-inspired elements. Solos influenced by Megadeth add a melodic intensity, while blast beats and dark, brooding riffs provide an unrelenting foundation. The result is a sound that is both aggressive and introspective, reflecting Herrin’s emotional depth and creative vision.

Machtklang’s self-titled debut, set for release on Christmas Eve, features a collection of tracks that delve into Herrin’s personal struggles and worldview. The album represents a bold statement from an artist who refuses to shy away from difficult topics, instead using music to inspire thought, resilience, and change.
