sextile share new single ‘s is for’

Electronic Music, House
rogue

Our site is dedicated to everything rock and metal with a few sidesteps in music that appeals to the same music fans like synthwave, neo (pagan) folk, industrial,… But some of us do have a taste for music and art that goes beyond these limitations. Enter “GRIMM goes rogue”: where you’ll get a metalhead, punker, rocker,… who ventures into realms beyond their usual habitat with an open mind and give their honest opinion, views and experiences.

"A mind is like a parachute. It doesn't work if it is not open."

Frank Zappa

Sextile shares the new single “S is For,” which arrives ahead of the album, yes, please., out May 2, 2025 on Sacred Bones. The track is a defiant clap back at feminist connotations, with singer Melissa Scaduto leaning into lyrical repetition. “Sex / S*** / Swell / Stiff / Slag / Snap / Shut,” she repeats, her talk-singing outlined by bloopy synthesizers and techno drums. Like the best Sextile songs, “S is For” marries danceability and heartfelt spunk. The video accompanying the track follows Sextile on their exhilarating recent tour with Molchat Doma.

On the track, Mel Scaduto of Sextile shares:

“It’s not super relevant to Sextile but with my other project ‘S. Product’ I was always asked what the S is for – it’s always really been a Scaduto product to me. But this song is sassy way to explain how many things the S could be.”

and on the video:

“The video originally had a completely different concept and was scheduled to be shot a week before leaving on a 7 week tour. However due to the heartbreaking and tragic LA fires the video shoot was cancelled of course and we had no other choice but to shoot the video while on the road. The video is a collage of performances, audiences and backstage moments across several different shows during our US tour with Molchat Doma.”

Some bands find their groove and stick to it while others choose to reinvent themselves and keep on moving. Sextile can attest to the thrill of an ever-changing road map. The LA duo comprising Melissa Scaduto and Brady Keehn ply their trade with a lust for life and a love of everything from no wave to hardstyle, having merged some of these influences on their striking 2023 debut for Sacred Bones, ‘Push‘.

The group’s new LP, ‘yes, please.’, fuses anarchic electro fire with raw personal recollections —and enough beefed-up bass to bust a speaker or two. yes, please. is an album of contrasts: a vulnerable record that bares its soul as much as it revels in excess, showing just how far you can push your sound when you shake off your inhibitions. Together, the pair betray a confidence that never wavers, making a bold splash on the speedy intro with a rave siren cut from a ‘00s New York house party. yes, please. is an action-packed dance record stuffed with wild, heady roof-raisers but is in the same breath a testament to living, and never looking back.
