Danish visual artist and black metal vocalist Ditte Krøyer debuts as solo artist with new electronic concept KRØYER and releases single and music video

Electronic Music, Industrial

Ditte Krøyer, also known as co-founder and front growler of feminist black metal band Vulvatorious, releases her first solo single and music video ‘GAS STATION’ under the moniker KRØYER. KRØYER has stripped down to the meat in a new, honest and sweaty era. The clothes are gone, her mohawk is gone and so is the makeup.

You can expect a hard-hitting, dark, electronic musical output from KRØYER when she releases her debut album 3rd of April 2026, with production from Sandra Vitayarat and features from MØ among others.

KRØYER’s music explores her upbringing in the rural countryside, the deserted liminal spaces in industrial- and agricultural areas. The sugar industry is firmly rooted in the centre of KRØYER’s hometown, with the sugar fields spread out throughout the island, and where several generations of her family continue to work. To KRØYER these industrial and spiritual landscapes, connects her to an area that is socially, economically and ecologically challenged.

“GAS STATION expresses the feeling of being trapped inside a liminal space, such as a closed gas station, the inner conflict and invisible rope that binds you to the place that you find yourself in. Like I was hunted growing up in Nakskov, I now hunt my previous self in my new music video, a self that I established in the metal scene with the mohawk and makeup. The bald version is a creature that stems from the sugar beet fields and the industry, and detaches itself from the past, to be able to live a new future”, KRØYER describes.

As a direct product of her surroundings, she now reclaims the area, of which she previously couldn’t get away from fast enough. With deaths, loss and grief, she now seeks to convey the essence of the trauma of the land, personal as well as collective. She is inspired by the Great Flood that fatally hit the island of Lolland in 1872. Through shameless romanticisations, grief and rage, KRØYER now delivers an intense and personal body of work, that differs from her brutal figure in Vulvatorious.

Ditte’s artistic practice contains sculpture, performance and collage and she is having her first solo exhibition, curated by Klara Li Scheutz in exhibition space Platform, in Nikolaj Kunsthal Copenhagen. At the opening on the 27th of November from 16-19, she will have a mini concert among her new body of work consisting of metal, mirror, sugar and hair. The exhibition “hard core” will be open from the 28th of November 2025 to the 11th of January 2026.
