Dark folk project Ols unveils new video for ‘bez nas’

Polish dark folk artist Ols has released a new video for “bez nas” (without us”). The track serves as the final chapter and emotional “echo” of her album “Poświaty”, which was released last May via Pagan Records. 

“bez nas” is a dreamlike tale of drifting away, from love, from a former self, and from the sacred myths of childhood. The track explores a world where memories take on the texture of a dream, shifting and entangling until the past becomes a fable. It reflects on the indifference of the cosmos; while a personal “apocalypse” may occur, nature continues its cycles, oblivious to our loss. 

Musically, the song highlights the evolution of the Ols sound. It begins with a dreamy, swaying verse centred on a melancholic piano, creating a sense of suspended animation. This stillness is eventually shattered by a heavy, guitar-driven chorus that draws inspiration from the crushing atmospheres of bands like Cult of Luna.

As the closing track on Poświaty, “bez nas” functions as a connective thread for the entire record. It weaves in musical quotations from earlier tracks and nods to the artists who shaped the imagination of Anna (the creative force behind Ols), leaving the listener in a space of quiet pain and lingering nostalgia.

The album “Poświaty” is available in a jewelcase CD format with a 20-page booklet that includes lyrics and translations. Thematically, the album “Poświaty” delves into the formative period between childhood and adulthood, exploring themes of personal mythology, the transformative power of love and the inevitable pain of loss.
