Chris Maragoth releases new single ‘No Escape (Transitus)’
A piano opens the track. A subtle sound, yet a little sinister opens the track. The longer you listen, the more instruments you will hear. The piano continues to take the lead, while the cello shows the way. A violin is showing its voice. It all flows together. Halfway in the song, the piano gives the other instruments a little time in the lead. Steady, the melody picks back up and takes you towards the last part of the song. This melancholy sounding track takes you on a trip to something that feels like the past, or a memory that had happened in the past that keeps haunting you. That’s the feeling I’m getting from it.
Once again an excellent instrumental track by Chis Maragoth, released on March 20, 2026. This one features a 100 year old historic acoustic guitar. Sanya Smileska, who was also part of the last EP Depths of Despair, joins again on cello. Chris states that the song is rooted in a cinematic / Gothic atmosphere. ”The piece unfolds not as a dramatic statement, but as a moment of transition, as a passage shaped by tension, inevitability, and quiet movement”. Transitus, being Latin for crossing or passing, explains us why this song does not have a video to accompany it like most other single releases do; this way, the song can create its own story in your head, just like it did with me when I was writing the text above.
