Hyljätyt, featuring members of Stam1na and Wolfheart, share new single ‘Vihollinen’

The Finnish hardcore-leaning metal/punk scene received a formidable new addition in 2023, when Hyljätyt released their debut album Kaaoksen kylmä syli. Behind the band was a dedicated five-piece consisting of Sami Halme, Kai-Pekka “Kaikka” Kangasmäki, Rolle Hirsimäki, Jussi Hultman and Joonas Kauppinen — musicians also known for their work with Stam1na, Wolfheart, Kasvoton and Ratface.

Now, Hyljätyt continue their uncompromising path with the release of their second album, Kadotus, due out on September 25.

The band previously unveiled the single “En usko enää mihinkään” from the forthcoming album. Last week, it was followed by “Vihollinen” and a straightforward music video filmed in just two takes.

“Vihollinen represents the fast, riff-driven and energetic side of our band, which is perfectly highlighted by the two-take music video,” says guitarist Kai-Pekka “Kaikka” Kangasmäki.

The sound of the forthcoming Kadotus album is handled by Miitri Aaltonen, who has established himself as one of the leading names in Finland’s heavier and more abrasive productions. Aaltonen also mixed the tracks recorded at Astia Studio. Mastering was handled by Juho Räihä, equally familiar both as a guitarist on stage and as a skilled hand behind the studio mixing desk.

The band describes Kadotus as a twelve-track journey dealing lyrically with the prolonged uncertainty and absurdity of the world:

“The twelve-track album revolves lyrically around the world’s prolonged state of uncertainty and absurdity. Musically, expect fast-paced assaults, heavy riffs and melancholic melodies.”

To celebrate the release, Hyljätyt will also play a handful of selected shows in October. The currently announced dates are:

October 3 – Tiivistämö, Helsinki
October 9 – Kulttuuritila Nuijamies, Lappeenranta

Further shows for the latter part of the year will be announced later.

Kadotus will also be released as a limited vinyl edition of 200 copies, available for pre-order through Levykauppa Äx.
