Suzi Sabotage turns martyrdom into a dancefloor ritual with new single ‘Sacrifice’

Darkwave

Helsinki’s darkwave enchantress Suzi Sabotage returns with “Sacrifice”, a new single out via Out Of Line Music. Built for the dancefloor yet steeped in wintry gloom, the track turns devotion and self-destruction into a hypnotic ritual.

Driven by a pulsing 130 BPM drum machine and ardent saw synths, “Sacrifice” was composed to electrify dance floors. Its icy coldwave textures draw on the synth sounds of the 1980s while reaching for distinctly modern soundscapes, with Suzi‘s vocals shifting between brooding and ethereal.

Lyrically, the song explores how trauma can shapeshift into sadism, and what it means to become the collateral damage of someone else’s suffering. Its narrator offers herself up as the target, taking every bruise and scar upon herself: “Color me with your bruises / Decorate me with your scars / Give me all your misery / Take it all out on me”

“The lyrics were written about how some people’s trauma shapeshifts into sadism. They seethe in vengeful rage against the wrongdoers, but end up hurting those who never hurt them, because they often make far easier targets. If you have ever felt like the collateral damage of someone’s suffering, this song is dedicated to you. It’s addressed to those, who deliberately take their unhappiness out on people who weren’t the source of it,” says Suzi.

“Sacrifice” follows her bilingual single “She-Demon” and arrives just ahead of her appearance at Unterwelt Festival in Berlin on 31 October.

Suzi Sabotage is a dark electronic solo artist from Helsinki, Finland, whose wintry, gloomy synthpunk is both danceable and ethereal. Some of her songs feature the kantele, the Finnish national instrument, creating a unique crossover between darksynth and neofolk. Her most notable releases include “Persona Non Grata”, “Nazi Goths, Fuck Off”, “Love at First Bite” and “Suden synty”; “Nazi Goths, Fuck Off” (2021) has been covered by The Cassandra Complex and Tears For The Dying. In 2026 she also collaborated with British post-punk band Ausgang. She has toured on three continents: South America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru), North America (a nationwide US tour and a shorter run in Mexico) and Europe, including the United Kingdom, France, Italy and Germany. With “Sacrifice”, Suzi Sabotage carries her icy ritual from the dark corners of the club straight onto the dancefloor.
