Devourer release new video for ‘Astral Attrition’

Swedish black/death metal band Devourer just released the official music video for “Astral Attrition”. Created by John Falk and Sanna Falk, the video was filmed on 6 October at Hyttan, the historic ironworks in Jädraås, Sweden. Its industrial setting gives physical form to the song’s imagery of cosmic disease and universal decay: an earthly structure once sustained by fire, now framing a vision of existence consuming itself.

“Astral Attrition” features John Falk on guitars and production, Sanna Falk on vocals and bass, and guest guitar solos by Vald. Falk’s production encompasses drum production, mixing, and mastering. Vald has previously created cover artwork and merchandise designs for Devourer.

The video also incorporates excerpts from “Lux Ferre” by David Miller, known as MLLR. These were reworked and combined with the band’s own footage.

“Astral Attrition is the first Devourer song I didn’t write. Sanna wrote all the riffs; I worked out the guitar parts and handled the production. It’s the fifth song for our next album, and we’ve since written a sixth. Work continues towards a release, hopefully in the first half of 2027.

Alongside the album, we’re preparing for Devourer’s first-ever gig on April 3rd, 2027. We now have a drummer and a second guitarist, and Sanna and I are looking forward to rehearsing with a full band and finally bringing Devourer to the stage.

We also plan to make another music video before the album is released. We haven’t chosen the song yet, but this time I’ll join Sanna on screen. The idea is to combine a performance on stage with a parallel story drawn from the lyrics.”

Founded by John Falk in Sandviken in 2002 and now based in Gävle, Devourer forge uncompromising black metal with crushing death metal weight. John and Sanna shape the band’s music and visual expression, carrying the work from composition and recording through to the finished image.
