Insanity Alert – moshburger

/ / By :

Born in Innsbruck, Austria back in 2011, this band has started making name in the metal scene. Influenced by bands like DRI, Suicidal Tendencies and newer bands like Municipal Waste, Insanity Alert brings us crossover trash metal. The band has a pretty standard set-up with Heavy Kevy at the vocals, Don Melanzani at the drums, Dave of Death with the lead guitar and Zola Gorgon on the bass.

The real story of the band starts at the Radio Onda d’Urto festival in Italy where they played a short set as a support for Suicidal Tendencies, spectators were impressed and from there on the band started rising higher every set they played. Between then and now they have released 2 EP’s and now with Moshburger they release their second full-length album via This Charming Man records. Its heavy, fast, old-school and right in your face. The album contains 15 songs and what makes them all equally interesting is that each one has their own vibe, thanks to their style they blend trash with so many other genres. Throughout the record there are a lot of punk influences with Metal Punx Never Die! as the big finale. This influence comes mainly from the vocalist, Kevin Stout, who has some previous experiences singing in punk bands.

The album opens with Disco Demolition an upbeat song in which they lace the trashy guitars with funky bass lines. It may seem like a strange combination but they make it sound really good. Those are not the only big crossovers the band uses, with Wake & Bake the bands pace drops to a more stoner-like tempo that fits the song title perfectly.

Another thing that interested me in the band was the way their songs and lyrics are written and filled in with sound effects, of which there are plenty in the album. Those really show that Insanity Alert just has fun writing, composing and performing. They have build themselves from the ground up by doing a ton of live shows as support for big names as Municipal waste, Limp Bizkit, Gamma Bomb and Cannibal Corpse and they are booked for this year’s Hellfest as well, so the perfect time to go check them out or for them to be discovered by you!
