Lord Vrăjitor’s musical art was widely witnessed on the debut full-length album “Burning Banners of the Funereal War”. With its cold, majestic synth, enthralling fans of symphonic black metal impose a sense of an ethereal and bleak dark world. Warmoon Lord’s second acclaimed album, “Battlespells”, deepened the ties between the two releases, thematically and musically, the sophomore was steeped in the mythological canon of orcish fantasy.
The third chapter in the band’s discography creates new imaginary worlds. Lord Vrajitor‘s inspirational and trancelike state of awakening and dreaming has inspired him to venture on a new quest. The new album “Sancrosanct Demonopathy” glows fervently with the spirit of symphonic black metal, albeit with the pathos of scathing melodies and symphonic textures spiraling the grand composition.
The opening song “Warpoems & Tragedies” gives us an ancient feel of Lord Vrăjitor’s imagination, a view as the music creates the silhouettes of spires and a vast kingdom sitting under the crimson twilight sky.
The majesty unfolds on “Invoking the Retribution Eidolon”, where the raw black metal riffs and galloping drums contrast with the nocturnal screeching, achieving memorable moments through the transition of the drums. Cold and icy riffs enhance the music, driven by blazing tremolo picking and drums firing on all cylinders.
The furious drums contrast with the echoes of the screeches and the rich symphonic elements that are intellectually well-composed in the song “A Hungering Yoke”. The epic interplay of the synth and the acoustic guitar is masterfully crafted, and the heavy keyboards increase the atmospheric changes in the tempo.
“Tartaros Offering” unfolds the compositional and symphonic palette and with each listen the raw icy black metal riffs are drenched in cold reverb despite being rooted in the style of Scandinavian black metal, Warmoon Lord bridges aggression and complexity allow the symphonic elements to manifest through fast blistering passages and at times the synth and cold riffing coalesce together like fire and ice.
Every song is followed by another great song, thus displaying a grand symphonic work. Lord Vrăjitor, keep the dark themes and the composition as thrilling as possible. For example, “Uncreation’s Dragon” is magnificently overwhelming in the fantastic synth setting with the clean guitars, majestic parading drums, and nocturnal screeching adding a sense of mysteriousness to the music.
Enticing us to the dark age of the second wave of black metal, the musical scale is multi-layered with tremolo picking, varied drums, shrieks, and the harmonic balance of the guitar melodies that provides an atmospheric backdrop. “Sancrosanct Demonopathy” spans a wide influence from early Emperor and Obtained Enslavement.
The magical enchantment offers something similar to Emperor, and there are some influences of pagan black metal bands, therefore, the music is bursting with scathing emotions. Warmoon Lord lends adventurous qualities and experience that make the album symphonic and otherworldly, while keeping it misanthropic and atmospheric. “His Enigmatic Ways” is raw and full of galloping riffs and melodies.
The drumming is excellent and relentlessly furious enough, and there is also a cinematic dimension that expands the role of the lead guitars and the orchestral synth arrangements to swing and dance to the imperial symphonic gait. Nothing misses the progression on this track; every element from folk to symphonic black metal is brilliantly crafted and layered to perfection.
“Daemonic Supremacy Enthroned” opens with a dark-tinted acoustic guitar that serves as a moment of respite as the drums add the dynamics and coherence to create tension. The blast beats are present, and shimmering guitar melodies seem to play a subtle and intriguing feature, resulting in many catchy moments like in the album’s closing track “Torch of Magickal Arte”. Retains the symphonic flow while the guitar provides a melodic backbone to the pounding drums, permeating an epic quality to this song.
