Zeke – Hellbender

/ / By :

The first album in 14 years… and it’s one hell of a good one. Meet Hellbender, the 7th album by punk rock legends Zeke. On their older albums, there was more of a rock element to it. Now, this has almost completely vanished. ‘Hellbender’ is definitely pure punk. From start to finish it’s full on energy. It just never stops. Fast guitars, fast drums, fast solos and vocals you almost can’t keep up with. The album contains 15 songs, and it just takes up 21 minutes. This gets you to fly through the album, take the full hit and leaves you breathless afterwards.

The big question is: why the long break? The answer is pretty simple actually. The guys took time to take care of their families. Lead singer Marky Felchtone got a kid and was being a dad to him. To prove the point, the kid is now 14 years old. Now the children are older, Marky thought it was time to get Zeke going again. Former drummer and co-founder Donny Paycheck, former bassist Mark Pierce and former guitarist Sonny Riggs III are really busy with their own lives, so that’s where the new line-up of Zeke comes in:

On guitar and vocals: Marky Felchtone
On lead guitar: Kyle Whitefoot
On bass: Kurt Kilfelt
On drums: Dayne Porras

Zeke is a pretty simple band. I mean, there are no secrets. They are just straight forward. And so is their new album.

7Straight forward and pure punk. That’s the best way to describe the 7th album of Zeke. Take the blast, or let it destroy you. Was this worth waiting 14 years? Yeah, it was. A change of style, a fresh album. And let’s not forget, one hell of an album.
