Finnish sludge metal band Themata release new single ‘Colossus’

Released on August 13, 2025, “Colossus” is the latest single from Finnish sludge metal band Themata and the second track from their forthcoming EP “Riven”, which will be released worldwide on September 24, 2025 via Meara Music.

The song captures exactly what has made Themata stand out in the Finnish underground: an uncompromising mix of weight, atmosphere and raw energy. Where the first single set the stage, “Colossus” pushes further, built on towering riffs, suffocating grooves and a vocal delivery that cuts straight to the core.

Speaking about the single, the band explain:

“‘Colossus’ is about weight – both the crushing kind that comes from within and the overwhelming forces around us. It’s the sound of struggle and survival, carved into riffs.”
