Floor Jansen shares new single ‘Run’
After a three-year break from releasing solo material, Floor Jansen returns with her brand-new single “Run”, out now. Best known as the vocalist of Nightwish, Jansen explores a darker and heavier side of her solo sound on the new track, embracing a more direct, guitar-driven approach without sacrificing the strong melodies that have become her trademark.
Lyrically, Run is about breaking free, discovering your own strength and, above all, refusing to keep shrinking yourself to meet other people’s expectations. Speaking about the song, Jansen describes it as an anthem of self-acceptance and courage:
“To me, Run is about no longer making yourself smaller to fit into a mould that was never yours. It’s about taking off the mask, following your own path and daring to be seen. Musically, it’s heavier and more straightforward than before, but still honest, melodic and completely true to who I am.”
The single was produced by Gordon Groothedde, marking the first time the pair have worked together since After Forever‘s final studio album. It also marks the beginning of a new chapter following Jansen‘s successful solo debut album Paragon, whose songs have amassed nearly 150 million streams across digital platforms, alongside a sold-out theater tour in her native Netherlands.
Fans in Finland won’t have to wait long to hear the new material live, as Floor Jansen is set to perform at John Smith Rock Festival on July 18, adding another prestigious festival appearance to a recent run that has included Wacken Open Air, Masters of Rock, M’era Luna, and Sweden Rock Festival.
