For the European leg of “The Aggressive Progressive Tour”, they brought along Cynic, Beyond Creation and label mates Dååth, putting together a package that would blow anyone away who is into aggressive, progressive or both! In the beginning of the year, Eluveitie embarked on the first leg of their “ÀNV Rising” tour in Europe, taking with them their friends of Infected Rain as direct support and Ad Infinitum as the openers. A pretty exciting package of 3 popular, but also quite different bands with what felt like a bit of something for everyone. We were all too excited about joining this evening of modern metal excellence, and travelled down to the Culture House of Helsinki to catch one of the first stops of the tour!

Long-standing Swedish rock band Thundermother released their new album ‘Dirty & Divine’ recently, and kicked off an extensive tour to celebrate and bring the release to their fans all over Europe! The first leg of the tour brought them to Im Wizemann in Stuttgart, Germany for a night of great rockin’ out. The ladies of Thundermother gathered some of the best of the feminine side of the heavy metal and hard rock scene with Cobra Spell and Vulvarine for support, and we saw it was good!

“The Poisoned Ascendancy Tour”, a tour celebrating 20 years of ‘The Poison’, the first album by Bullet for my Valentine and ‘Ascendancy’, the second album released by Trivium, and for both breakthrough releases. Europe was the first to get tour dates, but the band will take this show global. I got to experience it at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp, Belgium. Let’s see what these bands will bring to the stage!

Apocalyptica has been around for quite some time now, almost 30 years to be precise. They have created many great cover versions of famous songs, as well as writing their own songs. After so many years, one might ask what is next? For Apocalyptica the answer is to go back to their roots. As they mentioned during the gig, it just felt right to them to challenge themselves by creating a second Metallica cover album: ‘Plays Metallica vol. 2′. To commemorate this they went on an extensive tour, including a handful of shows in their home country Finland. We made it to the gig in Tampere’s prestigious concert hall Tampere-Talo.
