Imminence open the world of ‘Axis Mundi’ with two new songs

Metalcore

Swedish metalcore visionaries Imminence have announced their sixth studio album, “Axis Mundi“, set for release on October 2nd via Sumerian Records. As the album’s world continues to take shape, the band introduce two new songs that arrive back-to-back and offer distinct perspectives into “Axis Mundi”, each revealing a different emotional and sonic dimension of the record.

Following the release of “The Sword That Never Bends,” the first chapter in the album’s unfolding narrative, Imminence now present “False Light” and “Crestfallen.” Together, the two tracks offer a deeper look at Axis Mundi’s dual nature – balancing devastating heaviness with cinematic breadth, and revealing a record that moves between darkness, catharsis, and light.

Out now, “False Light” stands as one of the album’s most ferocious and unrelenting moments. Opening with a menacing, tightly coiled intensity, the track erupts into full-scale devastation driven by Eddie Berg’s raw, rage-fueled growls, crushing guitars, and pounding percussion. Beneath its weight, fleeting restraint emerges through delicate violin lines and brief clean vocal passages, heightening its volatility and emotional tension. Accompanied by a cinematic music video directed by Pavel Trebukhin, “False Light” continues expanding the visual mythology of “Axis Mundi”.

In contrast to the new release, “Crestfallen” reveals a more atmospheric and introspective side of the record. Built on hypnotic electronic textures and evolving production, the track unfolds through sweeping orchestration, immersive sound design, and a striking violin arrangement that adds cinematic depth throughout. Berg’s clean vocals glide across the mix with ease, delivering a fragile emotional core, while distorted undercurrents and submerged screams linger beneath the surface, adding weight without breaking its restraint.

On “Axis Mundi”, Imminence refine their fusion of crushing metalcore, orchestral grandeur, and cinematic storytelling into their most ambitious work to date. Self-produced by the band and brought to life alongside engineer Henrik Udd (Architects, Bring Me The Horizon, Dayseeker) and producer Drew Fulk (Twenty One Pilots, Knocked Loose, HEALTH), the album follows a mythological journey through a world suspended between life and death, exploring themes of suffering, redemption, and the search for light beyond darkness.

“Axis Mundi” Tracklisting:

1. Twisting In The Wind

7. Didn’t Think About You (Lately)
8. Leviathan
9. Shed Your Skin
10. Power Divine

Emerging from the creative peak of 2024’s The Black, the record serves as both continuation and evolution.

“Duality has always been at the heart of Imminence. Our musical expression is a conversation between darkness and light, violence and beauty, despair and hope”, shares guitarist Harald Barrett. “’False Light’ and ‘Crestfallen’ embody those opposing forces more clearly than anything we’ve released before. They’re radically different in sound and emotion, but together they tell a single story. That’s why it felt important to present them side by side as we unveil Axis Mundi. Our new album is not meant to be experienced from one perspective alone. It’s a journey through every extreme that defines what Imminence is, and these two songs are the perfect gateway into that world.”

Following their European summer dates and the release of the album, Imminence will embark on their biggest-ever European headline tour in early 2027, with support from metalcore legends August Burns Red. Check out the tickets informations, all remaining summer shows and 2027 tour dates here.
