Album Reviews

Last year, Holding Absence released ‘The Noble Art Of Self Destruction’, an album that left quite an impression on one of our writers, an album that tells a beautiful story on top of a bed of beautiful music. It is metalcore, but very melodic and not as heavy as you would think, released via SharpTone Records!

While She Sleeps can make music speak, even with no lyrics. What they’ve accomplished again on their latest album ‘Self Hell’ is truly beautiful. Out via Spinefarm Records.

At the end of last month, the Swedish metalcore legends Dead By April were finally back with their latest album ‘The Affliction’, another solid album that on the one hand surprises with some really cool collaborations with other bands and artists, but on the other hand doesn’t really bring in much new. If you’re a fan of the band, you’ll love this, though!

Metalcore institution Unearth is back with some melodic and brutal core tunes on their new album ‘The Wretched; The Ruinous’, released via Century Media Records!

Ten56. released ‘Downer part.2’, filled with songs that have a metalcore sound with rap influences similar to Landmvrks. 20 years ago we had nu metal, and now we have something you could call the “nu metalcore” sound, a progression that most definitely will have its own share of fans. Released via Out of Line Music!

Mantah brings you low tuned and heavy guitar riffs. Their album ‘Evoke’ gives a mix between late 90s nu metal, modern metal and metalcore, very melodic and heavy at the same time. A beautiful album to listen to, musically at first, but also lyrically when you take the time to dive deeper into this album.

Parkway Drive’s latest ‘Darker Still’ is a darker album than usual, but the quality is outstanding. So much energy is coming from this, you can feel that this was an outlet for the band to share some of their dark thoughts. A masterpiece from a continuously evolving band, out via Epitaph Records.

Electric Callboy proves that they’re not just a one trick pony and brings you the best of two worlds on ‘Tekkno’: electronica and metalcore perfectly combined into both party bangers and more serious tracks, but all equally killer! Out this Friday via Century Media!
