Nicole Alexis releases new single ‘Just A Friend’

Acoustic, Alternative

Alt-acoustic artist Nicole Alexis (stylized as N/A) is excited to share her new single “Just A Friend”, out now and streaming HERE. The song is tinged with yearning and frustration, as it explores the messiness of falling for someone who isn’t ready to move beyond friendship.

“‘Just a Friend’ sits in the gray area between love and uncertainty,” shares N/A. “It’s about falling for someone who keeps you close but never fully commits, leaving you stuck between friendship and something deeper. The song captures that frustrating emotional limbo where you keep hoping things will change even when the signs are already there.”

N/A originally teased “Just A Friend” last year while performing at Vans Warped Tour on The Unplugged Stage in Orlando. The song follows previous single “Don’t Tell Me To Breathe” – which was recently featured in the launch of Fender’s Quantum LT. Both can be found on N/A’s forthcoming EP Mirrors and Smoke, set to be released on April 17th.

Mirrors and Smoke Tracklist:
1. Just a Friend
2. Close 2 U
3. Runner
4. Goodbye
5. Don’t Tell Me To Breathe

N/A has quietly taken the internet by storm over the last few years, building a following of hundreds of thousands across social media with her stripped back and looped covers of fan favorites from New Found Glory, Kelly Clarkson, Smashing Pumpkins, My Chemical Romance, A Day To Remember, Dashboard Confessional, blink-182, and more. Now her songwriting skills and instrumental prowess are on full display as N/A prepares to release her first full EP of original music.

Nicole Alexis is a Nashville-based alternative singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer carving her own lane in modern DIY rock.

After spending years behind the scenes writing and producing for other artists, Nicole quietly built her own project from the ground up. Performing, producing, and engineering every release herself.

Blending raw alternative energy with vulnerable singer-songwriter storytelling, her music resonates with listeners who feel deeply and think loudly. Her hands-on artistry and live performances have earned recognition and co-signs from legacy acts like New Found Glory, 30 Seconds To Mars, and Breaking Benjamin — while she continues to remain fiercely independent.

Despite her technical precision and self-produced catalog, Nicole maintains the grounded accessibility of the girl next door, cultivating a transparent and highly engaged online community that grows with every release.

As she prepares a new wave of acoustic-leaning EPs and live performance projects, Nicole Alexis stands as a true one-woman operation — proving that modern alternative music doesn’t need a machine behind it, just vision, grit, and truth.

Upcoming Tour Dates:
3/26 – St. Louis, MO @ Moshmellow
3/27 – Kansas City, MO @ Minibar
4/24 – Nashville, TN @ Cannery Hall
