The Rock Fest is back… with the first names!

Heavy Metal, News

Last year was the first edition of the brand new Finnish festival The Rock Fest. With Rammstein and Evanescence as the headliners, they immediately put themselves on the map as a force to be reckoned with. Despite a few bugs in the system (for our report go here), they had a very successful start and it gave the organisation the needed push to go on and put a second edition on the rails. Besides the earlier announcement that they’re going to make the move from Vantaa to a city about a half an hour drive away called Hyvinkää, today they’re bringing us the first names of 2018’s installment of the festival and with it the first headliner! They’re also making the step from a 2-day festival to a 3-4 day feast of rock and metal!

Earlier they teased already that one of the greats in heavy metal would be honoring us with a visit as one of the headliners and they definitely didn’t lie! The first announced headliner is no one less than Judas Priest, which will be a show to look forward to. Because it will a concert riddled with many of their classics, but most likely also tracks from their upcoming new album! As you can see on the pictures there are 3 more headliners to be announced, which we’ll be eagerly awaiting…

Besides the first headliner we got a serving of 5 more bands for the bill, which are all domestic bands. To start with there’s the internationally loved Children of Bodom and up-and-coming Santa Cruz. The other 3 bands are mostly known within Finland but are nevertheless highly interesting to catch: Mokoma, Kotiteollisuus and Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus. It seems that The Rock Fest will deliver a great collection of names yet again and since the festival will last longer, there are still 40 more names to be announced which might feature one of your favorite bands!
