Teenage Joans releases punchy new single ‘Coming Up From Hell’
The Adelaide-based juice-box pop-punk duo, Teenage Joans, released their punchy new track, ”Coming Up From Hell.” It’s a fiery, no-apologies anthem that captures the girls’ new era of music. Fueled by gritty attitude and a razor-sharp hook, the track blends their signature sound with a more rebellious edge.
Bold, catchy, and a little bit unhinged, “Coming Up From Hell” is all about embracing your worst moments and turning them into your loudest comeback. The lyrics lean into chaos and consequence, painting a vivid picture of a self-made antihero.
Speaking on the release, the band shared:
“The song is about our journey as artists in the modern world, it’s quite tongue in cheek, but the concept of hell is all the battles we’ve been through to be where we are, and we’ll do whatever it takes – even speak to the devil himself!”
This new song follows the group’s previous single, “Bandits,” a country-tinged, high-stakes love story written during a beachside trip in 2025. The track channels the rush and recklessness of an all-consuming, Bonnie and Clyde-style romance. One that’s defined by unwavering loyalty, blind devotion, and choosing love at any cost.
Since emerging in 2018, Teenage Joans have been a force in Australian alternative music. Renowned for their fierce live shows and incisive, emotionally charged songwriting, the duo has built a reputation for instantly winning over audiences and leaving rooms full of new lifelong fans. Teenage Joans have been a force in Australian alternative music since emerging in late 2018. With unapologetic honesty and commanding stage presence, Cahli and Tahlia aren’t just making noise – they’re making noise that demands attention.
The duo first rose to national attention after winning triple j Unearthed High in 2020, quickly cementing themselves as one of the country’s most exciting emerging acts. Their debut EP Taste of Me landed early support, followed by back to back appearances in the triple j Hottest 100 (#87 in 2020, #84 in 2021) and a record breaking seven wins at the 2021 South Australian Music Awards, including Best New Artist, Best Live Performance and Best Release. They were also named Best Punk Artist in 2022, 2023 and 2024.
In 2023, the band released their acclaimed debut album The Rot That Grows Inside My Chest via Domestic La La / UNIFIED. The record debuted across seven ARIA chart categories and received a nomination for Best Hard Rock/ Heavy Album, alongside an accompanying short film that reimagined the album through a surreal, Alice In Wonderland inspired lens.
Throughout 2024 and into 2025, Teenage Joans continued expanding their global footprint, returning to the US for headline support runs and national tours, supporting PUP and Slowly Slowly across Australia, showcasing at Music Matters Singapore, performing at Harvest Rock Festival alongside The Strokes and appearing in London as part of The Great Escape’s ‘First Fifty’.
