The Dread Crew Of Oddwood shared 2nd video single ‘Leather Ship’ from upcoming album!

Folk

Decibel Magazine is hosting an exclusive premiere of “Leather Ship,” the new video/single from Southern California’s rogue faction THE DREAD CREW OF ODDWOOD, preceding the band’s fifth album, Rust & Glory, nearing mid-March release.

Since forming in 2008, THE DREAD CREW OF ODDWOOD – Wolfbeard O’Brady, Stark Cordwain, Deckard Cordwain, and Pistol(s) Pete – continues to become one of the biggest independent folk metal acts in the world. Armed exclusively with acoustic instruments, these pirates infuse the raw energy of heavy metal with Celtic and European folk into their signature heavy mahogany sound, telling tales of comrades lost, bloody sieges, drunken debauchery, and all manner of villainous misadventures. They’ve delivered their music to dancing, moshing, drinking, and partying land lubbers across North America, the British Isles, and Western Europe, accumulating a commendable cult following in metal and folk music communities alike.

Rust & Glory is a thirteen-song treasure-trove of all-acoustic rippers which present a finely honed sound and creative voice that is truly unlike anything else in the metal scene today. From anthems like “Lawful Evil” and “Leather Ship” to drinking songs like “Give Me Your Beer” and “Corpse Juice Medley,” the album is sure to get heads banging, feet stomping, and audiences singing across the globe.

Recorded at Seahorse Sound Studios in Los Angeles, THE DREAD CREW OF ODDWOOD enlisted the help of fellow folk metal musician Anna Murphy (Cellar Darling, ex-Eluveitie) who engineered, produced, and mixed the record, her input and expertise helping push Rust & Glory forward as the finest collection of songs the band has created to date. Several guests joined the party, with double bass by Bass Princess, hurdy gurdy by Anna Murphy, and additional vocals by Anna Murphy and Madison Lowery. As with their prior album, mastering duties were again handled by Svante Forsbäck (Rammstein, Korpiklaani, Ensiferum), and artist Mark Gibbons (Blizzard Entertainment, Games Workshop, Rookery Publications) delivered another stunning cover painting.

The hysterical video for “Leather Ship” was produced by Jackalope Studio in Los Angeles and features a wide cast of hard-partying savages in full-on debauchery mode. The band reveals,

“After years of abuse and neglect, our mighty sea vessel was in dire need of repairs. Wood is cool and all, but since our crew lacks a shipwright, and Wolfbeard O’Brady is a master leatherworker, the solution was simple. Replace all parts of the ship with leather! ALL parts of the ship. We assembled at our favorite fancy tavern (you know the place), to discuss what the video for ‘Leather Ship’ would look like. How many people could we turn into leather? What’s our budget? What even IS a budget?! After three hours of arguing and racking up a bar tab not fit for this economy, we were left with only enough money to have ONE leather crew member. Come witness the whole glory of our leather parrot!”

Rust & Glory will be independently released on Oceania and Red w/ Black Splatter vinyl variants limited to 250 each and all digital portals on March 15th. Preorder yours at the band’s webshop HERE and Bandcamp where “Lawful Evil” is playing HERE.

Immediately following the release of Rust & Glory, THE DREAD CREW OF ODDWOOD will cast off on an extensive tour of the North American shores, joining Trollfest and Æther Realm as support for the mighty Týr. The Battle Ballads North American Tour enters the port of Baltimore on March 28th and spreads across the continent for two fortnights, the final raid occurring in Greensboro on April 26th. Watch for additional live excursions to be announced, as the band will raid North America, and likely the UK, Europe, and beyond this year.
