Danish melodic death metal band PITCHBLACK releases second single and music video from new album ‘Walking On Burning Ground’
The Danish melodic death metal band PITCHBLACK has delivered aggressive and melodic death metal of high quality for almost two decades. Now the band returns with its strongest line-up ever and the equally strong album Walking On Burning Ground set for a release on Novembver 28th. Through eleven songs, the album confronts the challenges of the present while further developing the band’s signature sound. Last month saw the release of the first single La Hora De La Muerte, and today PITCHBLACK shares the album’s second single Emotionless Blessings and Fine Dining alongside a music video, created by Martin Hedegaard Jensen.
PITCHBLACK reflects on the new single:
“Overall, it’s a raw reflection on depression, inner conflict, and the desperate wish for relief. The song explores a struggle with inner darkness and self-destructive thoughts. It portrays the torment of losing control over one’s mind and emotions. The narrator feels trapped in an endless cycle of pain and mental unrest. “Emotionless blessings” suggests a numb acceptance of despair or escape through emptiness.”
On the new album Walking On Burning Ground, which features 11 tracks spanning 49 minutes, PITCHBLACK delivers a razor-sharp statement with its thrashy riffing, tight interplay, and vibrant, organic production that presents the well-crafted compositions in the best possible way. The band handled the production themselves, while the ubiquitous Jacob Bredahl (Livløs, Horned Almighty, Lifesick, a.o.) did the mixing, and American Brad Boatright (Nails, Obituary, Corrosion Of Conformity, a.o.) took care of the mastering.
Walking On Burning Ground is a title that not only reflects the conflicts shaping today’s world, but also represents aspects of the members’ personal lives and their relationships with each other. The world is out of balance and breeds frustration, which affects our lives and how we relate to one another. The album’s themes mirror the world of 2025. In the West, we have gone from growing up in peacetime to suddenly finding ourselves in a landscape marked by war and immense tensions, where polarization and distrust between people are increasing, and where young people are growing up in deep distress.

Copenhagen, Denmark-based PITCHBLACK formed in the early 2000s, when a group of friends from Amager wanted to create their own take on melodic death metal. The members came from the 90s metal scene, where both death metal and alternative metal thrived, and when the band came together, the combination of aggression and melody — as exemplified especially by the Swedish melo-death scene — became the band’s musical foundation, and it still is today.
PITCHBLACK released a couple of demos before their debut album Designed to Dislike came out in 2007. The next album, The Devilty from 2011, led to shows at Copenhell in 2011, Download Festival (UK) in 2012, and was followed by the release of The Download EP. After a few quiet years with several lineup changes on the guitar front, the band returned in 2020 with the album Death & Disbelief, which was released just as Covid-19 made its mark on the world’s agenda. Now, PITCHBLACK is ready to unleash their brand new album Walking On Burning Ground backed by a string of singles alongside strong visual content.

PITCHBLACK is:
Daniel Fonseca – Vocals
