Doom/stoner metallers Witch Piss share ‘Beggars And Horses’

Doom Metal, Stoner Metal

Formed in the historic Belgian city of Mechelen in 2022, the sound of Witch Piss belies their somewhat picturesque origins. Featuring current and ex members of Marche Funèbre and Self Inflicted, the band conjure up a hazy, heavy as hell blend of doom, stoner and nightmares. Their self-titled EP was released in 2023, with respected genre webzine Doomed And Stoned hailing the ‘mysterious atmosphere’ invoked and the ‘imposing guitar presence’. Crushing live shows with the likes of Your Highness, Belzebong and legends The Obsessed further cemented the Witch Piss reputation and now, in association with Ardua Music, the band are ready to reveal their momentous debut album – The Devil Doesn’t Burn!

Right from opening track, ‘Black Tongue Driven’, The Devil Doesn’t Burn serves up an intoxicating blend of primal, slamming heaviness and a dark atmosphere, laced with threat. First single, ‘Beggars And Horses’ hits hard with colossal grooves and huge, resounding chords and its story is told by the voice of a man who has seen more than all the moonshine in this world and the next can blot out. Title track, ‘The Devil Doesn’t Burn’ rides in on desert winds and dope smoke, with a chorus that’s undeniable and irresistible, while ‘Venus Rising’ is made from defiance, rebellion, live free or die attitude, grit, blood and whiskey. These songs hold the attention effortlessly while the rugged vocal melodies spin tales of black magic and blacker hearts. From the muscular, hammering drumbeats of ‘Wolf Cries Boy’ to the final acceptance of fate that is ‘Rubicon River’, Witch Piss have delivered on all the promise of that eponymous EP and drawn back the curtain on a whole new world of mind-melting magic and raw, ragged power.

Working once again with producer, engineer and mixing and mastering wizard Chiaran Verheyden, Witch Piss recorded live in the studio at Motormusic Recording Studios, capturing their untameable, self-proclaimed Mississippi Goat Worship to perfection. Adorned in the evocative artwork of Luca ‘Solo Macello’ Martinotti (Pentagram, Sahg, Baest etc), The Devil Doesn’t Burn will be set loose upon the world on April 24th by Ardua Music, on CD and exclusive black vinyl LP formats. The LP will also be available as a splatter vinyl, only from the band and on marble vinyl from Necktwister Records. This is dream fuel and a ticket to madness, so be ready to fly!
